<p>In Business Madison is a dynamic and growing digital media organization focused on smart, essential and unexpected business news for Wisconsin's Capital Region. With our print magazine and digital platforms, we inform and connect the business community through thought-provoking, high-quality journalism and events. After several months of retooling and reimagining our legacy business publication, we're looking for a creative and strategic leader to help us grow our audience.</p> <p>We're seeking an audience director to lead our audience engagement efforts across platforms. This person will be in charge of social media strategy and execution, as well as writing and producing a refreshed, flagship daily email newsletter - a must-read roundup of business news and insights for professionals in the Madison area.</p> <p>This position sits at the intersection of editorial and audience development. You'll play an essential role in shaping our voice, growing our community and ensuring our work reaches a diverse audience, from first-time entrepreneurs to CEOS to nonprofit executives and local business leaders, among other readers.</p> <ul> <li>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- </li></ul> <p>Overall Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead audience engagement efforts across platforms.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for social media strategy and execution.</p> </li><li> <p>Write and produce a refreshed, flagship daily email newsletter.</p> </li><li> <p>The newsletter will be a must-read roundup of business news and insights for professionals in the Madison area.</p> </li><li> <p>Focus on growing the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure the organization's work reaches a diverse audience, including:</p> </li><li> <p>First-time entrepreneurs, CEOs, Nonprofit executives, Local business leaders, and other readers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Specific Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Daily newsletter production</p> </li><li> <p>Write, edit and publish a smart, engaging daily email newsletter focused on business news in Madison and Wisconsin's Capital Region.</p> </li><li> <p>Curate top local, regional and national business stories.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain consistent voice, quality and formatting standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Social media management</p> </li><li> <p>Own and execute the day-to-day social media calendar (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and others).</p> </li><li> <p>Write compelling headlines and captions to drive traffic, shares and community engagement.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor performance analytics and optimize accordingly.</p> </li><li> <p>Cover events or news on social media platforms when needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Audience strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement strategies to grow subscribers across print, digital channels, newsletter and social media platforms.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in management and growth of audience CRM/database</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with editorial and events manager to align messaging, campaigns and branding.</p> </li><li> <p>Use analytics tools to monitor engagement trends, audience behavior, and advertising metrics.</p> </li><li> <p>Community engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Identify and nurture opportunities for audience interaction online and in person.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent In Business Madison at events or in virtual forums.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participates in the Great Game of Business.</p> </li><li> <p>Other job-related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Behavior: Commitment to quality and service. A positive representative of the company, exhibiting consistent professional behaviors. A flexible team player. Maintains a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.</p> <p>Skills: Planning, management and organization, editing, writing, spelling and grammar. Ability to track and incorporate analytics into news placement decisions. Ability to learn and use new technology. Design or basic photo/video editing skills. Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.</p> <p>Knowledge: 3+ years of experience in audience development, social media, journalism or newsletter publishing. Exceptional writing, editing and content curation skills. Understanding of social media platforms, analytics and trends. Strong sense of voice, brand and storytelling for a professional/business audience. Experience with newsletter platforms and BLOX. Background in business journalism or communications preferred.</p>
