<p>Summary:</p> <p>We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill an open position as a Special Education Emotional Support Teacher at New Albany School. This is a tenure-track position that will require the candidate to work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the delivery of high-quality education services. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a passion for working with students with special needs with emotional and behavioral disabilities in a self-contained environment in grades 9 through 12. The teacher will implement best practice strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual instructional needs; provide accommodations and modifications to curriculum and materials to meet students' needs; follow through on behavioral strategies and interventions that are driven by the students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). The position also requires the teacher to oversee and provide support to Educational Support Professionals assigned to the classroom or individual students.</p> <p>This position will begin late August 2026.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual and group instruction to students with special needs </li><li>Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers and other special education staff to ensure students receive appropriate support </li><li>Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress </li><li>Attend IEP meetings and other meetings related to student progress and services </li><li>Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and trends in special education </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field </li><li>Valid teaching certification in Special Education </li><li>Experience working with students with special needs </li><li>Knowledge of special education laws and regulations </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team </li><li>Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Strong organizational and time-management skills </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times </li></ul>
