<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Elementary School Teaching</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/3/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Lakewood & Sheldon Woods</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>August 2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Position: Elementary Adaptive Specials Teacher</p> <p>Posting Dates: June 3, 2025 - Until Filled</p> <p>Reports To: Lakewood & Sheldon Woods Elementary School Principals</p> <p>Beginning: August 2025</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Michigan teaching certificate required. </li><li>Elementary (ZG) endorsements required. </li><li>Special Education endorsements preferred (CI), (EI), (ASD) </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement developmentally appropriate adaptive special lessons (e.g., physical wellness, art, music, technology) tailored to students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional needs. </li><li>Collaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, therapists, and support staff to adapt curriculum and instructional materials for individual student needs. </li><li>Modify activities, equipment, and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all students. </li><li>Assess students' abilities, monitor progress, and maintain accurate and timely records of participation, growth, and performance. </li><li>Support the development of motor skills, creativity, communication, and social interaction through structured and flexible lessons. </li><li>Use a variety of teaching methods and materials to engage students and ensure progress in an inclusive environment. </li><li>Create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment that promotes student independence and confidence. </li><li>Participate in professional development activities and maintain certification and training relevant to adaptive education. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. </li><li>Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. </li><li>Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. </li><li>Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. </li><li>Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound. </li><li>Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. </li><li>The worker is subject to environmental conditions. </li><li>The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance. </li></ul>
