Aquarion Water Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eversource.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Water Quality Management team at Aquarion is looking for an Intern! The Water Quality (Lead and Cooper Compliance) Intern is accountable to the Manager, WQ Regulatory Compliance & Field Operations. He/she will support the Water Quality Information Services Coordinator with soliciting customer participation in the lead and copper monitoring program.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the planning of lead and copper sampling routes throughout Aquarion's Connecticut systems. </li><li>Support the laboratory information system process by receiving samples. Prepare samples for transference to contract laboratories. </li><li>Safely drive to customer homes within Aquarion's Connecticut systems to drop off and pick up samples. May also be required to assist in Aquarion of Massachusetts systems. </li><li>May also support the Reservoir Management, (Deeps), Monitoring Program by assisting with sampling the major reservoirs by boat, maintenance of supplies and equipment used in sample collection and preparing sample bottles for sample collection. </li><li>Performs all duties in a manner consistent with company safety procedures for working and general driving safety. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Applicants must have good written and oral communication skills as well as above average problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Must have working knowledge of Microsoft platform including Word and Excel. </li><li>Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly (up to 75lbs of weight in some circumstances). </li><li>Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. </li><li>Must be able to swim (for safety reasons). </li><li>Experience in the drinking water field is desired. </li></ul> <p>Education/Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Have or be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field. </li><li>Boating experience required; Boating Certificate from CTDEEP preferred. </li></ul> <p>Salary</p> <ul> <li> <p>This is a temporary, full time position based out of our Monroe Office (Monroe, CT).</p> </li><li> <p>Days and Hours are Monday through Friday (8:00AM to 4:30PM).</p> </li><li> <p>Salary will be $19.00/hour</p> </li></ul> <p>Aquarion Water Company is an equal opportunity employer, and we prohibit discrimination based on age, color, disability, marital or parental status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other legally protected status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.</p>
