<p>Educational Support Coordinator VISTA</p> <p>The Educational Support Coordinator VISTA member will build the capacity of the Logan area middle and high school students, afterschool youth, family members, educators, and community members by assisting with a strengths-based, prevention through resilience youth program for at-risk students in Logan County. As a result of the VISTA member's service, at-risk students will have an increased self-awareness and knowledge about resilience factors as a prevention strategy; will have made connections to the community and caring, resilience informed adults and family members; and will have improved in academic performance and behaviors, all of which will aid in the negation of the harmful consequences of the opioid epidemic and COVID. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.</p> <p>Member Duties : Coordinate efforts with peer National Service members, SBS staff members, school principals, teachers, and administration to identify a core group of 40 middle/high school students. Develop a core group of 40 middle/high school students. Coordinate with SBS staff members, school principals, and teachers to arrange opportunities for 40 students to take the Talents and StrengthsFinder assessment. Collect and aggregate data from the StrengthsFinder assessments and ensure data is passed to the Strengths Corps program supervisor. Organize two workshops for students, SBS staff members,school staff, and community members to identify substance abuse issues from their perspectives.
