<p>SCCC REFERENCE #: 26-60</p> <p>DATE: June 5, 2026</p> <p>TITLE: Adjunct Surgical Technology Instructors Fall 2026</p> <p>CAMPUS: Grant Campus in Brentwood</p> <p>START DATE: 8/26/2026</p> <p>TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Part-Time</p> <p>RANK: Faculty</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and primarily serves an audience of more than 1.5 million residents of Suffolk County. The region benefits from an exceptionally high quality of life, with access to world-class arts, sports, New York City, and the natural resources of Long Island.</p> <p>SUNY Suffolk is a comprehensive community college committed to open access, equity, and student success, and candidates for adjunct faculty positions should be prepared to demonstrate their commitment to these values. Adjunct Faculty are scheduled to teach based on the needs of students and their department, and may have the option to teach in more than one modality.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college. </li><li>Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels, including assessment of student learning outcomes. </li><li>Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses. </li><li>Ensuring that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice. </li><li>Ensuring that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices. </li><li>Incorporating engaging and appropriate academic technology into all modes of instructional delivery. </li><li>Teaching assigned courses in accordance with description published in the College catalog and the approved course outline. </li><li>Completing mandatory compliance training as assigned during the semester. </li></ul> <p>Candidates interested in applying must submit a cover letter and include a statement of commitment to principles of equity and student success.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a healthcare career field with three (3) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five (5) years. </li><li>Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBTSSA). </li></ul> <p>NON-DISCRIMINATION NOTICE: Suffolk County Community College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, marital status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, familial status, pregnancy, predisposing genetic characteristics, equal pay compensation-sex, national origin, military or veteran status, domestic violence victim status, criminal conviction or disability in its admissions, programs and activities, or employment.
