<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and conducting activities (group and Individualized) in accordance with current Federal, State and local standard guidelines and regulations. Assists physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual to explore appropriate avocation pursuit.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>A bachelor's degree from an Accredited Institution. Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred. 2 years of related experience in a psychiatric facility, nursing home, assisted living facility, or equivalent directing the activities for patients/residents preferred.</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Maybe exposed occasionally to unpleasant patient elements (accidents, illnesses, etc.) occasionally to irregular hours. Works on unit in a light traffic area.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Financial Responsibilities:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Plans and provides opportunities which allow individuals to become involved in activities of daily living and recreation activities. </li><li>Completes routine assessments and develops a monthly calendar. </li><li>Implements, participates in, and evaluates program activities. </li><li>Documents individual program participation, records and reports as needed. </li><li>Recognizes individual recreational needs and ensures personal dignity is maintained through delivery of considerate, respectful care. </li><li>Provides a variety of types of activities to meet individual patient needs. Maintains a clean, safe environment for recreation. </li><li>Performs other miscellaneous and related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Physical requirements are primarily related to the essential functions of any job. In order to perform the essential functions of this position, you must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, talk and hear.</p> <p>Lift or exert energy up to 10 pounds 50% of the time and 25 pounds up to 50% of the time.</p> <p>Must have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen move up/down or left/right)</p> <p>Mental Requirements:</p> <p>Ability to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures or regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and/or manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, patients, families, other employees, and medical staff.</p> <p>Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) using numbers and units of money</p> <p>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations.</p> <p>Age Groups:</p> <p>This position primarily interacts with adults and aging adults and provides direct patient care. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
