<p>About Boston Prep</p> <p>Boston Prep is a college-preparatory charter public district, made up of a single-site middle and high school. In 2025-2026, our community will include 700 students in grades 6-12, nearly 500 alumni, over 150 faculty members, and hundreds of families. The majority of our students and families reside in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students and build a brighter future for our community.</p> <p>As a School Nurse. . .</p> <p>You are ensuring the Boston Prep community's health & well-being is our priority.</p> <p>We are seeking a temporary full-time school nurse for the dates of August 11, 2025 through January 9, 2026 to cover a leave. There is a possibility of extension of dates.</p> <p>You would work with our School Nurse Lead in our nursing office.</p> <p>Hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am -4:00 pm which include Wednesday Faculty Meetings 2-4pm.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities of the Role:</p> <p>Nursing:</p> <ul> <li>Establishing and managing a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing and school health, and Boston Prep's policies </li><li>Treating students who have been referred to the nurse's office and maintain a daily nursing log of students seen for any medical reason </li><li>Managing student paperwork, including doctor's notes, physicals, etc. </li><li>Communicating regularly with students, families, and school administrators around health concerns </li><li>Maintain medication supply for students and provide for daily administration of medication </li><li>Maintain contact with prescribing doctors and with parents / guardians to insure correct prescriptions are followed </li><li>Maintain, track, and update all required student medical records </li><li>Maintain and update health administration database </li><li>Support athletics, extracurriculars, and field trips with health planning </li><li>Insure classroom teachers have protective first aid equipment and access to health supplies needed for routine classroom mishaps </li><li>Conducting student health screenings as required by law, including but not limited to, scoliosis, vision, and hearing testing </li><li>Assist with first aid procedures for medical emergencies and serve as a member of the school's Emergency Response Team </li><li>Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases through immunization screenings, and the early detection, surveillance and reporting of contagious diseases. </li></ul> <p>Building of School Culture</p> <ul> <li>Frequently communicating the school's mission to children and families </li><li>Adhering to school academic and disciplinary protocols </li></ul> <p>Maintenance of Organizational Culture</p> <ul> <li>Actively engaging in one's learning; seeking and acting on feedback regularly </li><li>Actively pursuing professional development, inside and outside of the school </li><li>Collaborating with other teachers and administrators to advance the school's mission </li></ul> <p>Qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts </li><li>A bachelor's or master's degree in nursing </li><li>Minimum of one (1) year experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing, or pediatric nursing </li><li>Pediatric/adolescent health experience </li><li>School nurse experience preferred </li><li>CPR certified </li></ul> <p>For more information, please visit our website at www.bostonprep.org.</p> <p>One Mission.
