<p>WV Northern Community College seeks a qualified, student-centered individual to teach Allied Health - Certified Nurse Assistant courses through the college's Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) department. </p> <p> </p> <p> About the Course:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Classes are scheduled for 128 hours - the state requires 120 hours of training (65 hours in the classroom/lab and 55 hours of clinical) </li><li>We are flexible with scheduling of the classes - days, evenings, weekends - so we can work around potential instructors' schedules. We strive to have each class completed in 8 weeks or less. </li><li>For each full course instructed, the pay is $7,000. This includes classroom/lab, clinical instruction, course preparation and some minimal paperwork. </li><li>WVNCC will pay for the Educate the Educator training for those who are committed to instruction </li><li>If you are only interested in classroom/lab instruction and/or only clinical instruction, we will also consider that as an option. </li></ul> <p>Per the Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification there are certain requirements to be approved as an instructor:</p> <p>"The primary instructor for a training program shall be a registered nurse licensed to practice in West Virginia, who has at least two years of continuous or equivalent experience working as a registered nurse. At least one year of full-time status or equivalent (2080 hours) experience shall be actual work experience in a certified nursing home, or distinct part of a hospital that meets the requirements of Sections 1919(a), (b), (c) and (d) of the Social Security Act.</p> <p>The primary instructor, sometimes referred to as the program instructor, must complete a course in teaching adults or completed the "Educate-the-Educator" training course for instructors approved by the OHFLAC-NAP, or must have a vocational certificate from the West Virginia Department of Education. The department may waive this requirement for an instructor who has at least one year of experience as an instructor in a college or university nursing program accredited by the West Virginia Board of Nursing or any other state and has had clinical teaching experience of at least six months in a nursing home setting."</p> <p> </p> <p>The adjunct pool will be accessed ONLY when an opening arises and is based on enrollment.</p> <p> Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. The review of applications is ongoing.</p> <p> Qualified applications will remain active as long as the pool position is available but no more than a year (12-months).</p> <p> </p> <p> Depending on the instructional needs of the college, the course structure may include:</p> <p> - Day, evening, and weekend courses</p> <p> - On-Campus Courses (Wheeling, New Martinsville, and Weirton campuses)</p> <p> - Remote / Online Courses (Synchronous and Asynchronous)</p> <p> </p> <p> Compensation:</p> <p> Workforce, Continuing Education, and Community Education: based on the course structure and source of funding at the time the course is offered; the salary is $7,000 per course.</p> <p> </p> <p> Adjunct faculty are eligible to receive reappointment, however, no number of appointments shall create any presumption of a right to reappointment or designation as full-time faculty or tenured faculty.</p> <p> </p> <p> NOTICE:</p> <p> You MUST upload evidence of the requested qualifications as stated in the job posting. </p> <p> No application will be considered until required documents are received.</p> <p> </p> <p> We request:</p> <p> - Unofficial college or school transcript from an accredited degree/diploma-issuing institution</p> <p> - Copies of other educational diplomas, training records, and certifications are welcomed and may be uploaded under the "transcript" label</p> <p> Official academic transcripts or evidence of certification are required within 30 days of hire.All adjunct faculty members are responsible for adhering to the following guidelines. The guidelines are used, in part by WVNCC, to evaluate all adjunct faculty.</p> <ul> <li>Follow the rules and regulations of the College. </li><li>Promptly fill out and return any mandatory college forms (including paper forms and online forms). </li><li>Complete administrative responsibilities by activating and using the WVNCC adjunct email account for institutional correspondence with staff and students (no personal or otherwise external email account). </li><li>Academic faculty: Use Northern on the Web (NOW) for the following: reporting first week's attendance and final grades within established institutional procedures and deadlines, student contact information, and other related processes. </li><li>Use the College approved course syllabus incorporating all elements of the master course guide, and consistent with catalog description, student needs, and other institutional guidelines. </li><li>Submit a copy of the syllabus 48 hours before the class begins to the designated email address. </li><li>Plan and implement strategies and activities to accomplish course objectives/outcomes. </li><li>Clearly explain assignments, expectations, attendance policy, grading policy, evaluation methods, and class procedures to students. </li><li>Evaluate students on the basis of their achievements toward these objectives/outcomes. </li><li>Ensure that class is held the required number of hours scheduled during the term. </li><li>Make arrangements for equipment and supplies, field trips, or other special activities needed for a course. </li><li>Complete and submit all program and course assessment practices and instruments as requested. </li><li>Understand and use technology that will enhance the teaching/learning in the classroom. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Associates Degree in Nursing or higher, preferred. </li><li>Registered Nursing (RN) License or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) , required </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>CNA instructor must have one (1) year long-term care experience </li></ul> <p>A combination of education, training, and work experience will be considered for this position.</p> <ul> <li>Computer and technical skills related to career field </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to instruct students. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Must be able to work under limited supervision. </li><li>Must be able to lift or move related equipment </li></ul> <p>Professional Development</p> <p> At a minimum, all part-time adjunct faculty are expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Keep up-to-date with information and practices in the discipline in which they teach. </li><li>Keep up-to-date with practices of the teaching profession. </li><li>Maintain currency in the use of communications and instructional technologies which will provide students with skills needed for the global workplace. </li><li>Participate in and utilize College provided workshops, materials, and/or online tutorials designed to assist faculty. </li></ul> <p>College Service</p> <p> Like all faculty, adjunct faculty represent the College to students and others. At a minimum, adjunct faculty are expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Understand and interpret the mission and vision of the College. </li><li>Understand and interpret the academic and student policies relevant to the courses they teach. </li><li>Know what academic support services are available and to utilize and refer students appropriately for that support. </li></ul> <p>Fulfill the pledge to students regarding excellence in teaching and learning and maintain and uphold academic integrity and the College's work ethic in all aspects of their work.</p>
