This public safety role involves patrolling and monitoring parks and related facilities to enforce rules, regulations, and City codes. Park Rangers play a crucial part in fostering a safe and inviting environment by responding to violations, assisting with emergencies, and educating the public on park rules and the significance of park environments. They also contribute to park maintenance and support recreational activities, special events, and community programs.</p> <p>Find additional information in thePark Rangerjob description.</p> <p>IDEAL CANDIDATE</p> <p>The ideal candidate for the Park Ranger position is a community-focused professional skilled in enforcing park regulations, maintaining safety, and fostering positive public relationships. They demonstrate sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. With a commitment to public service and environmental preservation, they effectively balance park patrol, maintenance, and visitor education to create a welcoming and secure park environment.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school, or G.E.D. equivalent; and two years of related experience preferably in park security, park maintenance or other related activities with heavy public contact. Supplemental course work in Administration of Justice or security procedures and operations is desirable.</p> <p>ABOUT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT</p> <p>The Community Development Department provides a variety of development and business services related to enhancing the quality of life in the community. The Community Enhancement & Neighborhood Services Division is responsible for the enforcement of codes relating to neighborhood nuisances, health & safety, substandard housing, vehicle abatement, illegal dumping, improper signage, parking control, and weed abatement.
