<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by being responsible for creating the vision and strategy for current campaign plans in support of Norwich University. This includes oversight of major gifts, planned giving, annual fund/class giving, athletic fundraising, advancement services, stewardship, research and prospect management. Serve as a key member of the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) leadership team, with specific oversight over campaign plan implementation, the fundraising effort, donor recognition, gift entry, database management, stewardship and reporting.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be experienced in fundraising (or leading fundraising campaigns) and committed to the mission, vision and fundraising priorities of Norwich University. Must display leadership, team building and strategic thinking skills while maintaining the integrity of the university and operating in a cost effective and sustainable way.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Develops strong positive relationships with the University community to synchronize University philanthropic goals across the varying departments and develop internal stakeholders, enhancing the institution's culture of philanthropy. </li><li>Leads the Development team in planning and implementing long- and short-term strategies to secure gifts from individuals and organizations through major, planned and annual gifts. </li><li>Works with the Vice President of Development establishing measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are both aspirational and achievable. </li><li>Ensures and enables the execution of Norwich University's next campaign. </li><li>Oversees the management of annual projections, strategies and timetables for cultivation of annual, major and planned gift activities, and a strategy to support all aspects of the fundraising efforts. </li><li>Ensures the implementation of prospect and moves management processes to include the identification, research and assignment, effective engagement and cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors, and maintenance of related records. </li><li>Oversees the development and implementation of the annual, leadership annual, and reunion giving program focused on the Norwich Fund and other current fundraising priorities. </li><li>Sets direction and gives guidance to stewardship program to recognize donors in effective and meaningful ways, including but not limited to recognition society activities and related events. </li><li>Implements recognition programs and event strategies to recognize gifts and donors. </li><li>Develops and supervises related plans and processes for advancement services, recognition societies, special events, annual giving, class giving, major and planned giving, and athletic fundraising. </li><li>Oversees the identification, development, and implementation of special events to support fundraising. </li><li>Ensures effective advancement services operations including gift acceptance, database management, receipting, reporting, etc. </li><li>Establishes and adheres to annual operating budgets and ensures that development programs are operating in a fiscally prudent and productive way, in consultation with the VP and staff. </li><li>Partners with Alumni Relations in achieving departmental and University goals. </li><li>Develops and maintains relationships with related offices to include academic departments, Marketing and Communications Office (MCO), and Financial Affairs. </li><li>Ensures that the Development team functions according to the highest standards of professionalism. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assesses the performance of direct reports and provides frequent feedback to optimize their performance. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information. </li><li>Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner. </li><li>Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned. </li><li>Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software. </li><li>Speaks, reads, and writes in English. </li><li>Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. </li><li>10 years of related work experience. Plus 5 years of major gifts fundraising experience preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of Norwich University's history, environment, and academic culture preferred. </li><li>Superb writing skills - attention to detail, clear and concise writing, and an ability to appreciate the unique voices of university leadership </li><li>Aptitude for creating and executing stewardship plans that recognize donors in personalized, high touch methods </li><li>Experience in personnel management/leading successful teams </li><li>Strong project management skills </li><li>Track record of exceptional customer service </li><li>Ability to work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions </li><li>Ability to balance competing demands in deadline-driven environment </li><li>Strong computing and technical skills, including familiarity with a networked environment, relational databases, and other applications </li><li>Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook). Experience with Raisers Edge or similar software preferred. </li><li>Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 25 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus </li><li>Work some evening or weekend hours </li><li>Travel as needed (public or private transportation) </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Indoor work at a computer workstation </li><li>Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Norwich University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing a positive education and work environment that recognizes and respects the dignity of all students, faculty and staff.
