<p>Job Description:</p> <p>If interested, please apply at https://www.applitrack.com/isaacschool/onlineapp/</p> <p>General Scope of Responsibility:</p> <p>Responsible for counseling and behavioral strategies for assigned students; and for providing ongoing communication and consultation to program staff, parents, other clinicians and outside agencies.</p> <p>Relationship Within the Organization:</p> <p>The School Social Worker is directly responsible to the Director of Special Education.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic evaluations of students for the purpose of identifying learning or social interaction issues, and recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning. </li><li>Coordinates with teachers, support staff, and the leadership team to ascertain students' abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with social work services and community-based resources. </li><li>Provides individualized and group counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral problems. </li><li>Provides crisis intervention as needed. </li><li>Collaborates with the family to ascertain need and to identify additional supports. </li><li>Collaborates with teachers, support staff, and the leadership team to implement plans for support for students and families. </li><li>Conducts risk assessments and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develops Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with other team members as needed. </li><li>Liaison between schools and families and additional community supports as needed. </li><li>Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. </li><li>Conducts parent training sessions. </li><li>Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed. </li><li>Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete records in accordance with accreditation standards. </li><li>Provides in-service training and guidance to ISAAC staff as needed. </li><li>Practices in accordance with the Standards for School Social Work Practice in Connecticut, as developed by the Connecticut State Department of Education. </li><li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Administration. </li></ul> <p>Skills, Knowledge, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Social Work principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven behavior management methods. </li><li>Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. </li><li>Ability to provide workshops and facilitate groups of parents, staff and students. </li><li>Knowledge of community based resource and supports for students and families. </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. </li></ul> <p>Required Educational Background and Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>CT Certification Required in School Social Work (#071) </li><li>Experience with middle school students preferred. </li><li>Bilingual (Spanish) a plus. </li></ul> <p>ISAAC is an equal opportunity employer.
