This position is responsible for reviewing wastewater plumbing plans, calculations for pretreatment device capacity.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions</p> <p>Coordinates activities performed by the work unit, scheduled work activities to maintain facilities in efficient operating conditions, reviews work performed by a variety of trades, responds to emergency situations to correct operating problems in a timely manner. Work requires independent judgment under general supervision of a designated supervisor.</p> <p>Representative Duties/ Assignments</p> <ul> <li>Communicates with Engineers, General Contractors, and permit applicants regarding wastewater pretreatment requirements based on Federal, State, and local regulations. </li><li>Reviews Engineering Plans to identify pretreatment deficiencies and provides recommendations for compliance. </li><li>Determines pretreatment needs for commercial, private, and industrial projects in coordination with engineering development, the Industrial Pretreatment Program Environmental Coordinator, and other stakeholders. </li><li>Reviews construction plans for site and interior alteration permits, providing recommendations to Engineering Utilities plan reviewers on potential pretreatment requirements. </li><li>Assesses and approves or denies Code Variance requests for the installation of alternative pretreatment devices. </li><li>Maintains a database to track variance applications and a specifications library of evaluated pretreatment devices. </li><li>Works with In-House inspectors to determine physical condition of existing pretreatment devices to establish integrity conditions in order to approved for re-use with new business. </li><li>Provides technical support and guidance to In-House inspectors. </li><li>Engages with commercial and residential customers, waste haulers, utility department sections, county agencies, and external organizations to implement regulatory and program requirements. </li><li>Review "USE Permits" for new businesses/change of ownership to determine if existing pretreatment device has adequate capacity for operating business. </li><li>Performs other duties as may be assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years utilities related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.</p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License</p> <p>Based on area of assignment, may be required to possess and maintain the appropriate certification or license.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>Utilities experience (water, wastewater, field services), good math skills, reviewing plan drawings</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>Open Date: 04/30/2025</p> <p>Close Date: 05/13/2025</p> <p>This posting is subject to close without prior notice.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay Grade: 015 - From $24.27 to $31.55</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Placement based on Education and Experience</p> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>10 paid holidays and2 floating holidays annually. </li><li>18 days paid time off per year. </li><li>Longevity bonus based on years of service. </li><li>6 days of paid TERM (sick) time annually. </li><li>Low-cost medical, dental, vision, additional life insurance. </li><li>Free basic life, long term disability, and employee assistance for all the family members effective on day one. </li><li>Participation in the Florida Retirement System. </li><li>Employee assistance program includes multiple free one on one sessions with licensed counselors and online tools for legal advice, financial planning, personal life balance, etc. </li><li>Free access to Wellworks gyms and OrangeCounty Recreation Centers. </li><li>Free onsite wellness coaching, including dietician and nurse. </li><li>Tuition reimbursement program. </li><li>Earn service time to forgive student loans. </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer: Benefits mayvary for employees under collective bargaining agreements.</p> <p>For more information on Benefits visit - https://www.ocfl.net/EmploymentVolunteerism/EmployeeBenefits.aspx</p> <p>Veterans Preference</p> <p>If you are claiming Veterans' Preference, you are responsible for providing the required eligibility documentation by the closing date of the posting.
