Consults with business partners to define, structure and execute data and information projects. Creates statistical and visual solutions using advanced business intelligence tools. Manages the process of identifying and executing appropriate research methodologies that will provide the information needed in an understandable format. Develops and implements financial and operational measurement management practices. May lead small multiple concurrent projects.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Reporting Relationships: Director/ AVP</p> <p>Core Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain relationships and serve as a trusted business advisor to clients, internal risk partners, and other stakeholders. Create partnerships across the enterprise to ensure methodologies and assumptions used are aligned with corporate practices. </li><li>Responsible for creating, packaging, and communicating financial and operational measurement work by developing new statistical and visual solutions, and using appropriate medium for relevant insights. Determines the level of information needed based on business problems and customer needs. </li><li>Responsible for effectively synthesizing own project work and the work of team members. Work may span more than one project or focus area. Plans and manages execution of own work, participates in planning, and delivers on commitments Participates in the development of scope, risk/control matrix, project timelines, and assignments. </li><li>Collaborates with Leadership to develop financial and operational measurement strategies for the business unit. Consults with business partners to understand, align, and deliver measurement work that supports business objectives and priorities. </li><li>Determines appropriate information and data to be shared with customers. Shares financial and operational measurement work with appropriate area of the company as assigned. </li><li>Responsible for building and/or leveraging business intelligence applications using statistical, database, and/or general programming languages and tools. Leverage technology for data management, report automation and/or ad hoc reporting for end users. </li><li>Responsible for preparation of reports and use of information systems, software and related sources of information. Trains other users on report preparation and data base access. Supports the research, analysis and presentation of information by: monitoring external sources, creating custom reports, compiling and summarizing information, producing supporting documentation and exhibits, and verification of information received from external sources. </li><li>Manages special projects and serves as data/technical lead and contact. Project team members typically consist of both team members and members from other departments. </li><li>Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of department processes through ongoing initiatives. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Typical Skills and Experiences:</p> <p>Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information, business, mathematics, or related field with post-graduate studies preferred.</p> <p>Experience: Typically, eight or more years' experience in data visualization, financial and operational measurement, and data-extraction queries. Detailed experience with data-extraction problem solving; working with large structured and unstructured data sets and databases to create understandable and relevant measures. Professional experience in insurance, financial services or a related industry preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of business and/or insurance policies and procedures, customer service concepts and practices. Relevant knowledge of insurance, financial services, or a related industry terminology, processes, regulatory and compliance issues is desired. Advanced understanding of and working knowledge to create and maintain ad hoc and standard reports, including data visualization and business intelligence tools. Advanced understanding of and working knowledge to conduct data management and extraction of data for functional and operational measurement. Verbal and written communication skills for interaction within the functional area, information documentation and report formulation. Ability to understand business processes and the data produced by them. Ability to understand functional and operational measurement needs, analyze data requests, and interpret business problems into solutions. Ability to work under tight time constraints. Ability to effectively operate a personal computer with business software applications for data import/export, manipulation, reporting and analysis. Capable of developing distinctive and understandable data visualizations.</p> <p>Critical Thinking and Problem Solving - uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, probes different sources for answers, and can see hidden problems. Anticipates needs of business partners and understands big-picture business problems.</p> <p>Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to translate findings into actionable communications.
