<p>Job Details</p> <p>Job Location: Southern Maine - South Portland, ME</p> <p>Salary Range: Undisclosed</p> <p>Description</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES: Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) seeks a full-time mathematics faculty member beginning August 2025. Duties include teaching 15 contact hours or the equivalent each semester; developing, modifying, and assessing curricula; continuously improving teaching methodology and student-centered learning; staying current in the field; advising and maintaining scheduled availability to students; participating with other faculty in developing and managing courses, curricula and academic policy; participating in department and college activities, including committee work and college service; and other professional duties related to the position that contribute to the college. Appointments begin at the instructor level.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in mathematics or related field </li><li>3 years teaching experience at the college level </li><li>Ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>3 years community college teaching experience </li><li>Experience teaching courses in two or more of the following: quantitative reasoning, statistics, mathematics for educators, mathematics for the trades, and differential equations </li><li>Ability to relate mathematics to real-world concepts, especially in financial, scientific, and healthcare fields </li><li>Management experience </li></ul> <p>PROJECTED START DATE: August 25, 2025</p> <p>SALARY RANGE: $54,000 - $62,800</p> <p>BENEFITS: 100% employer paid health, dental and life insurance for employees (spouse/domestic partner/dependent coverage also available), vision insurance, Maine Public Employees Retirement System or TIAA in lieu of social security, generous personal/sick time allowances, professional development, and tuition waivers within the MCCS for employees, spouse, and/or dependents.</p> <p>THINKING ABOUT APPLYING?</p> <p>Research shows that people from historically excluded communities tend to apply to jobs only when they check every box in the posting.
