<p>Characteristics of Work</p> <p>This is professional work which involves conducting program evaluations of Mississippi state or local agencies, programs, and contractors. The incumbent uses analytic methods and tools to perform challenging assignments. Work is completed independently or as a member of interdisciplinary teams; assignments may involve overnight travel at state expense. The duties are performed under the direction of administrative superior.</p> <p>Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of the quality and extent of their total accomplishments, education, experience, and training only on the basis of information supplied. Applications will be reviewed for minimum qualification requirements and preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities by a staff resources board who will determine the extent to which each applicant possesses the appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities, and other personal characteristics required for the position. Those applicants deemed best qualified will be interviewed by PEER managers who will make a selection recommendation to the Director and Deputy Director. The final selection decision will be made by the Director and Deputy Director subject to the approval of the PEER Committee. Prospective employees will be subject to a background investigation of character, work experience and job performance. If the Director finds no applicant satisfactory, the position will not be filled, and a new announcement will be issued.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <p>Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <p>Conducts program evaluations of Mississippi state or local agencies, programs, and contractors.</p> <p>Uses analytic methods and tools effectively.</p> <p>Performs intellectually challenging assignments.</p> <p>Works independently or as a member of interdisciplinary teams.</p> <p>Prepares professional work paper files.</p> <p>Writes or assists in writing reports.</p> <p>Prepares and presents briefings to legislators and governing boards.</p> <p>Utilizes high level of initiative, creativity, and judgment in conducting sensitive assignments.</p> <p>Some assignments may involve overnight travel at state expense.</p> <p>Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>A Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business or public administration, accounting, program evaluation, operations research, economics, statistics, data analytics, decision sciences, information systems, political or social science, experimental psychology, mathematics, or a related discipline that provides training in a disciplined analytic regimen.</p> <p>Licensure:</p> <p>Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may be required.</p> <p>Health/Prescription Insurance</p> <p>Eligible employees have the opportunity to participate in the state's health and prescription insurance program. This plan provides annual benefits for certain services with first-dollar coverage with no deductible.</p> <p>Life Insurance</p> <p>All eligible employees receive an actual term life insurance policy upon employment. The policy coverage is two times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $100,000. These accounts allow employees to withhold childcare expenses and unreimbursed medical expenses prior to application of state and federal taxes.</p> <p>Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave</p> <p>Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.</p> <p>Military Leave</p> <p>In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.</p> <p>Holidays</p> <p>Employees receive up to 10 paid holidays to enjoy many of our nation's celebrations with family and friends.</p> <p>Retirement Programs</p> <p>The State of Mississippi provides all its employees a Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution Retirement Program. Employees become vested in the State's retirement system after 8 years of employment. Both you and your employing agency contribute toward your retirement.
