<p>Summary</p> <p>A Microbiology Laboratory Technician I (LabTech I) reports to the Laboratory Manager. The LabTech I performs research and analysis activities, processes chemistry and microbiology samples, and provides maintenance tasks necessary to support the Phigenics Analytical Services Laboratory (PASL). This position has no supervisory responsibilities.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Understand PASL services, operations, and testing methods for waterborne pathogens </li><li>Basic understanding of field testing equipment and supplies </li><li>Receive and log in chemistry or microbiology samples </li><li>Prepare materials and reagents for processing chemistry or microbiology samples; record observations and measurements, and report results </li><li>Under direct supervision, provides analysis of the samples according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs). </li><li>Records sample location data and results in the database </li><li>Communicates accurate and timely results to clients and the sales team </li><li>Assists in the maintenance of quality system records to comply with accrediting agencies </li><li>Assists with ordering, receipt, inspection, and stocking of supplies </li><li>Performs lab maintenance, including, but not limited to: </li><li>Clean lab equipment and wash glassware, vials, and filters </li><li>Clean and store materials used for testing </li><li>Discard old chemistry or microbiology samples </li><li>Prepares reports as necessary </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is required </li><li>0-2 years of experience as a lab technician or related field </li><li>Works under direct supervision from the Lab Manager </li><li>Accuracy and attention to detail are strong requirements </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills are strongly required </li><li>Skills with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field </li><li>Performs tasks successfully using instructions, pre-established guidelines, and standard procedures to perform work </li><li>Experience with MS Office, spreadsheets, word processing, and other computer programs </li><li>Minimal travel required </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands and Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers; handle, feel, talk, and hear. </li><li>Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. </li><li>Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. </li><li>Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Phigenics LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, alienage or national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, arrest record, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.
