Indian River State College is seeking a dedicated Perkins Project Specialist to assist and empower students from special populations, including single parents and individuals entering non-traditional career fields. In this dynamic role, you'll help promote Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, support summer initiatives, track student progress, and develop strategies for student success.</p> <p>If you're organized, tech-savvy, and enthusiastic about making a difference, we invite you to help us shape the future of our CTE students!</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Perkins Project Specialist supports students from special populations, including single parents, out-of-workforce individuals, and those preparing for non-traditional high-wage careers. Key responsibilities include recruiting special populations, promoting Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings, providing program information, and assisting with summer programs. The role involves tracking CTE Industry Certificate completers and concentrators, analyzing data, and developing strategies for student success.</p> <p>SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists students in special populations such as single parents, including single pregnant women, out-of-workforce individuals and those preparing for non-traditional fields leading to high wage careers. </li><li>Recruiting special populations students and promoting Career and Technical Education offerings; </li><li>Answering the phone and providing information regarding the programs and redirect calls as necessary; </li><li>Assisting with various functions associated with our student summer program(s); </li><li>Assist with tracking CTE Industry Certificates completers and CTE Concentrators; </li><li>Attend conferences and workshops to meet Perkins Grant Assurances: </li><li>Analyzing data and outcomes of CTE concentrators; </li><li>Developing and/or implementing strategies to support CTE student enrollment, retention, persistence, program completion, and job placement; </li><li>Providing direct services to special population students seeking assistance through the Perkins Grant Program; </li><li>Assisting Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs in guiding students to High Skill - High Wage and Non-traditional career training; </li><li>Assist with and coordinate the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) as prescribed by Perkins </li><li>Represent IRSC Perkins at various college activities, CTE academic advisory boards, and community events. </li><li>Possess working knowledge of the college's web-based learning management system; </li><li>Demonstrated ability to meet enrollment goals in CTE programs; </li><li>Work with economically disadvantaged CTE populations. </li><li>Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Proven clerical experience in the daily operations of an office environment; </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse student population; </li><li>Strong computer/technology skills including the ability to use office desktop software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint; </li><li>Ability to run reports and make photocopies; </li><li>Ability to be a quick learner in adapting to new technologies; </li><li>Proficient in public speaking; </li><li>Proficient in using social media for promotions and communications; </li><li>Ability to pay close attention to detail; </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality at all levels; </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and students; </li><li>Ability to interact effectively in a professional and personable manner with youth and adults at all levels both internally and externally to the institution; </li><li>Understanding of college instructional programs and support services related to student success is essential; </li><li>Assist the Career and Technical areas to promote events; </li><li>Ability to work independently and complete tasks timely in a timely manner; </li><li>Associate's degree and proven CTE recruiting experience is preferred. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
