<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>The Substance Use Disorder Clinical Team (SUDRP) staff psychologist provides psychological care to Veterans in the outpatient SUDRP at the</p> <p>Richard L. Roudebush VAMC. In collaboration with the SUDRP team and requesting providers, the SUDRP staff psychologist evaluates the Veteran's presenting clinical concerns and problems conceptualized within the biopsychosocial model, and facilitates access to the resources that will best promote recovery from the presenting concern. As an independent practitioner of psychology, the SUDRP staff psychologist assesses and applies psychological/clinical interventions for SUD and related disorders with a high degree of autonomy, exercising independent judgment and initiative in carrying out psychologist functions and in applying psychology and ethics to complex situations.</p> <p>Clinical Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Function as a member of the SUDRP </li><li>Ability to diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments, with special emphasis on, and awareness of the mental health, social, and medical need of individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder </li><li>Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders in veterans and their families. Specialized knowledge and awareness of stress-related disorders and their effects on individuals and their families, is necessary. </li><li>The provision of mental health services via Telehealth technologies . Provides a full range of psychotherapeutic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care to veterans and their families. </li><li>Performs evaluations for all routine psychological testing and neuropsychological screening, with special emphasis on the various means for diagnosing Substance Use Disorder in their many forms, and the ability to differentiate these disorders from other diagnoses, including malingering. </li><li>Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues, but with specific emphasis on the identification, diagnosis and treatment of individuals diagnosed with SUD, and the service needs of their family members. </li><li>Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. </li></ul> <p>Enriching Elements</p> <ul> <li>The incumbent may provide clinical supervision to trainees (e.g. graduate and postgraduate students, externs, and interns) and unlicensed FTE in accordance with VHA Handbook Policy 1400.04. Incumbent may serve on the Psychology Training Committee and participate in didactic training. </li><li>The incumbent participates in monthly psychologist and weekly SUDRP meetings. The incumbent serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assists in their conceptualization of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding patients. </li><li>The incumbent is required to participate regularly in OPPE clinical reviews and submitting these results in a timely manner to the Senior Psychologist Program Manager. The incumbent may participate in program evaluation.
