Ones that inform, engage, and resonate.</p> <p>If you think in charts, see stories in data, and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment-this is your opportunity to shape how audiences understand the world.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>You'll sit at the intersection of journalism, design, and data, creating visuals that don't just support stories-but often lead them.</p> <ul> <li>Identify where visual storytelling can elevate or drive editorial coverage </li><li>Transform complex reporting, investigations, and datasets into: </li><li>Infographics, charts, and diagrams </li><li>Maps and location-based storytelling </li><li>Motion graphics and video content </li><li>Interactive digital features </li><li>Analyze datasets and convert them into clear, accurate, editorial visuals </li><li>Write scripts for video and multimedia storytelling </li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with: </li><li>Reporters, editors, and producers </li><li>Designers, illustrators, and developers </li><li>Ensure accuracy, integrity, and editorial alignment in all visual content </li><li>Work under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality or clarity </li></ul> <p>What You Bring</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of experience in visual journalism, editorial graphics, or data storytelling </li><li>Strong editorial judgment and news instincts </li><li>Proven ability to simplify complex information visually </li><li>Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as: </li><li>Flourish, Datawrapper, Infogram (or similar) </li><li>Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven newsroom environment </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills </li><li>Awareness of current events, U.S. culture, and global news cycles </li></ul> <p>Bonus Points If You Have</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere/Final Cut) </li><li>Motion graphics or animation experience </li><li>Basic coding skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for interactive storytelling </li><li>Experience with mapping tools (Mapbox, GIS, QGIS) </li><li>Background working in a newsroom or media organization </li></ul> <p>Application Requirements (Required for Consideration)</p> <p>To be considered, you must submit:</p> <ul> <li>A cover letter outlining your interest in the role </li><li>3-5 work samples, including: </li><li>Data visualization work </li><li>Editorial or reporting-based visuals </li></ul> <p>Applications missing these materials will not be reviewed.</p> <p>What's in it for you?:</p> <p>Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision.
