Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$65,000.00 - $101,000.00</p> <p>The Assistant Athletic Trainer provides care for injuries incurred by varsity athletes in collaboration with team physicians and coaching staff. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, evaluating concussions, developing treatment plans, and assisting physicians with clinical procedures. The role involves planning professional development, participating in community outreach programs, and ensuring compliance with sports medicine policies. This position requires frequent evening and weekend work, as well as independent and collaborative efforts to deliver sports medicine services to athletes. Administrative duties and athlete health education are also key components of the role.</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Certified Athletic Trainer with national certification (ATC), Connecticut state licensure, and a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations. Ability to perform physical examinations, including range of motion, strength, sensation, and special tests. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a diverse population. Ability to educate patients on treatment plans, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and future care.</p> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities</p> <p>CPR/AED (BLS) certification required. Experience working with pediatric and/or adolescent athletes, with an interest in sports medicine for young athletes. Supervisory experience and advanced certifications related to patient care. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic. Master's degree and three plus years of relevant work experience highly preferred.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Treats and rehabilitates athletes to return them to full activity levels. 2. Conducts pre-season screening and conditioning to prevent injuries during competitions 3. Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, braces and padding to injuries. 4. Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents treatments, referrals and injury reports. 5. Determines methods for educating both athletes and coaching staff on proper training techniques and modalities. 6. In conjunction with the team physician, determines when an athlete has completed a rehabilitation program and can resume an appropriate level of activity. 7. Assists team physician during clinical hours. 8. Assists team physician during clinical hours. 9. Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Therapy or Allied Health Sciences required and two years of experience as an Athletic Trainer at the collegiate level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Healthcare workers (HCW) are defined as university employees working a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients, human research subjects or infectious materials including body substance, contaminated medical supplies, devices and equipment, surfaces, or air.
