<p>Summary</p> <p>This requisition expires on January 5, 2026 but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.</p> <p>Responsible for supervising and directing all activities relating to indoor or outdoor municipal swimming pools and/or water parks operations.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Other Important Duties</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</p> <p>DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and direct all municipal pool and/or water park activities and staff including, but not limited to, scheduling staff, maintaining inventory, overseeing pool, pool area, and equipment maintenance and cleaning, monitoring staff operating costs, and coordinating the spring-cleaning schedule with internal stakeholders. </li><li>Serve as lead for the lifeguard staff; ensure staff knowledge and understanding in proper safety training, rule enforcement, and life guarding skills to ensure the safety of all guests. </li><li>Monitor and ensure pool water chemistry is in accordance with approved regulations. </li><li>Coordinate and conduct American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification classes. </li><li>Administer first aid to guests, as needed. </li><li>Serve as a lifeguard, as needed. </li><li>Respond to and resolve customer issues and/or requests in a courteous and professional manner; notify leadership immediately if not able to resolve customer concerns. </li><li>Complete and file daily operation logs; maintain all attendance records and facility and emergency reports. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment/assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal. </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.</p> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Two (2) seasons of lifeguard experience; and, </li><li>Possess current Lifeguard Instructor Certification (LGI); and, </li><li>Possess current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification; and, </li><li>Six (6) months of supervisory experience in aquatics; and, </li><li>Ability to pass the City Health Department Pool Operator Course; and, </li><li>Ability to pass a water skills test, </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws parks and recreation. </li><li>Knowledge of lifeguarding procedures and pool water chemistry. </li><li>Knowledge of leisure, social, health and legal needs of individuals with disabilities at all age levels. </li><li>Knowledge of CPR/AED first aid procedures. </li><li>Skill in problem solving; identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. </li><li>Skill at the beginner level, working with Microsoft Office 365, and other software systems to complete work. </li><li>Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers. </li><li>Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy. </li><li>Ability to motivate and provide appropriate guidance and behavior management. </li><li>Ability to take charge and identify solutions quickly in emergency situations. </li><li>Ability to lead and motivate others. </li><li>Ability to work independently to manage multiple work tasks while balancing competing priorities with attention to detail and in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. </li><li>Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience. </li><li>Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment to facilitate/accomplish needed activities. </li><li>Ability to develop, understand, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures operations. </li><li>Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. </li><li>Ability to prepare and maintain reports. </li></ul> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <ul> <li>Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification. </li><li>Must pass a physical examination. </li><li>Must possess and maintain Lifeguard Instructor Certification (LGI) and remain in good standing with the American Red Cross. </li><li>Must be at least seventeen (17) years of age. </li><li>Ability to pass the City Health Department Pool Operator Course. </li><li>Must pass water skills test. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements</p> <p>SAFETY</p> <ul> <li>Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition. </li><li>Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. </li><li>Promptly report unsafe conditions in work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.</p> </li><li> <p>Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; rescue tubes, backboard, shepherd's crook, whistle, hip pack, resuscitation mask and other first aid supplies, pool chemicals and testing kits, pool cleaning supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.</p> </li><li> <p>Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions; occasional reaching.</p> </li><li> <p>Lifting: lifting no more than100 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Environment: Works inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather, noise, debris, odor, and chemicals; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work overtime or outside of normal business hours, as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be available for position trainings during the designated timeframe outlined for program.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification by the designated timeframe outlined for program.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work the designated summer seasonal program schedule, dates will adjust annually, Monday - Friday with shift times varying between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.</p> </li><li> <p>Must work the Citywide special event, date will adjust annually.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work on a rotating schedule seven (7) days per week.</p> </li><li> <p>Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress;
