<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Assistant Professor - Remote Sensing</p> <p>The Department of Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse, NY invites applications for an academic-year (10 month) tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor with research and teaching interests in remote sensing. Priority will be given to candidates concentrating on polar, atmospheric and/or oceanic remote sensing, however candidates with interests in terrestrial remote sensing (e.g. land cover monitoring) will also be considered. Of particular interest are applicants who use novel remote sensing approaches to study environmental process and function. This position is anticipated to start Spring semester 2026.</p> <p>Responsibilities: The workload for this position is 45% teaching, 45% research, and 10% service. The candidate would be expected to teach three courses annually after an initial ramp up period: an undergraduate core class (likely an introductory coding class), a graduate level introductory geospatial course, and a class in their specialty area. The candidate would also be expected to develop and sustain a nationally/internationally recognized and externally funded research program.
