<p>The Sub Fabrication Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for overseeing sub-fabricators quality programs to assure best quality product will be fabricated to the job specifications and Cooper Steel's standards.</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production.</p> <p>Collaborate with sub-fabricators to prevent and resolve quality issues and promote continuous improvement.</p> <p>Visit sub-fabrication shops to monitor and verify adherence to AISC and/or company quality standards.</p> <p>Audit sub-fabricators' quality documentation, including inspection reports, NDT records, welder qualifications, and MTRs, with stricter processes for non-AISC-certified companies.</p> <p>Confirm that sub-fabricators maintain accurate material traceability and current certifications.</p> <p>Identify nonconformances, document findings, and assist with corrective actions.</p> <p>Maintain records on sub-fabricators in accordance with company procedures.</p> <p>Review the company's Approved Sub-Fabricator List based on performance and compliance, including NCR tracking.</p> <p>Communicate inspection results and concerns to the QA Manager and project teams promptly and professionally.</p> <p>Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks assigned.</p> <p>Provide evaluations and recommendations on performance of systems and operations.</p> <p>Stay current with relevant AISC, AWS, and ASTM standards.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>No supervisory responsibilities.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</p> <p>3-5 years of experience in quality or fabrication in the structural steel industry.</p> <p>Working knowledge of AISC 207, AISC 360, AISC 303 and AWS D1.1.</p> <p>Familiarity with NDT methods, welding processes, and fabrication documentation.</p> <p>Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.</p> <p>Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to sub-fabricator locations.</p> <p>Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification (preferred).</p> <p>Experience with AISC certification programs and audits (preferred).</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS</p> <p>Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to work effectively with others; computer literate; highly developed organizational, planning and oral and written communication skills. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Position is primarily in a typical office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The position performs work occasionally in a Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions.</p>
