<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Upward Bound Academic Instructor - Temporary</p> <p>Appointment Type:</p> <p>Professional & Scientific</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in an undergraduate education program </li><li>Prior experience mentoring, teaching, supervising, or working with youth or high school age students. </li><li>Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities. </li><li>Ability to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision. </li><li>Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Certified teaching license </li></ul> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Upward Bound Instructors design and deliver engaging, hands-on, non-credit academic courses that prepare students for upcoming high school core coursework. Instructors support students entering grades 10-12 by introducing and reinforcing foundational concepts in math, science, and/or literature and composition. Courses emphasize active learning, skill building, and academic confidence in a small-group instructional setting.</p> <p>Classes typically enroll 8-10 students. Although courses are non-credit-bearing, instructors use assignments, assessments, and grading to promote engagement, participation, and academic growth.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with high school preparatory curricula and program goals </li><li>Deliver daily instruction that introduces and reinforces core academic concepts appropriate for students entering grades 10-12 </li><li>Create assignments, assessments, and learning activities that promote participation, academic growth, and skill development. </li><li>Adapt instructional strategies to meet the learning styles, academic levels, and needs of students. </li><li>Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and program staff, including weekly progress updates. </li><li>Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and instructional records in accordance with program expectations. </li><li>Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Proposed Start Date:</p> <p>June 1, 2026</p> <p>Number of Months Employed Per Year:</p> <p>Time Type:</p> <p>Part time</p> <p>Pay Grade:</p> <p>P&S Temporary</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
