<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>This position is located in the Belmont area, where you will work independently. As a phlebotomist, your primary role is to assist in performing various tasks, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and perform decontamination. </li><li>Update patient information as needed. </li><li>Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. </li><li>Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, when required. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. </li><li>Fully understand all physicians' orders. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements. </li><li>Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport. </li><li>Store specimen samples at required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes. </li><li>Accurately label samples and follow procedures specific to protocol for transport to maintain specimen integrity. </li><li>Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. </li><li>Attend annual department training sessions. </li><li>Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draws. </li><li>Experience in patient care, venipuncture, and specimen processing. </li><li>Ability to manage patient information accurately. </li><li>Possess a valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required. </li><li>Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>6 months-2 years of experience in a related field. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment is a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting where you will work independently. You will be responsible for managing patient specimens and ensuring accurate processing and transport. The role requires adherence to strict safety and procedural standards to maintain specimen integrity.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
