These workers clean the facilities to optimal ambulatory surgical standards. They aid in the prevention of communicable diseases by thoroughly sanitizing patient, employee, and public areas. These employees also perform other housekeeping duties, like making sure cleaning supplies are well stocked and available. This team member would be mostly supporting after hours on a part time basis.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>In addition to patient areas and waiting rooms, environmental service workers also clean offices and administrative areas in an ambulatory surgical center as well as restrooms and hallways. These employees mop, sweep, and vacuum floors. Performing laundry duty is a big part of the job. Workers must complete this task in a precise way that meets ambulatory surgical standards. This includes sorting, washing, drying, folding, and storing linens, towels, and other items. Environmental service workers frequently disinfect door knobs, handles, sinks, fixtures, and walls to curb the spread of germs. Using extreme caution, they also perform garbage pickup and disposal.</p> <p>? A record of previous vaccinations will be subject for review and it is policy to be fully</p> <p>vaccinated against certain diseases.</p> <p>Needed Skills</p> <p>Environmental service positions can be extremely demanding. An employee must report to work in variable weather conditions. The ambulatory surgical setting lends itself to potential exposure to strong cleaning solutions, bodily fluids, disturbing sights, etc. Workers must be able to stand and walk for long periods, reach, and bend. The job also involves pushing a cart and using a ladder to clean walls and vents, along with moderate pushing and lifting approximately 25 lbs.</p> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <p>While no special training is necessary for an environmental services position at an ambulatory surgical center, most employers require a high school diploma or GED. Effective communication is vital in healthcare.</p> <p>Environmental services workers must have strong written and oral communication skills</p> <ul> <li>Medium Work (Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of </li></ul> <p>force constantly to move objects, including people.
