If you need assistance with this or any other matter, please contact us at HR.Hiring@tamuc.edu.</p> <p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Community Director, reporting to the Assistant Director of Residence Education & Academic Initiatives or Staff Development, is a key member of the Residential Education team responsible for creating and maintaining a supportive, safe, and engaging living-learning environment for students. The Community Director oversees one or more residential communities, promotes student development, and fosters a sense of belonging and academic success. This position involves supervising student staff, coordinating educational and social programming, managing residential community operations, and responding to student needs and concerns. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of student development theory, and a commitment to creating engaging communities that promote student learning and holistic development. Our employees benefit from a collaborative community, cutting-edge research opportunities, and outstanding resources.</p> <p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Community Development and Student Support (35%) </li><li>Foster a positive and engaging residential community that promotes student engagement, personal growth, and academic success. </li><li>Develop and implement programs and activities that support residents' educational and social development. </li><li>Provide guidance and support to students, addressing their concerns and connecting them with appropriate campus resources. </li><li>Supervision and Leadership (30%) </li><li>Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of student staff (Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants, Graduate Community Coordinator). </li><li>Provide ongoing training, development, and support for student staff to ensure effective community building and student support. </li><li>Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment among residence education staff. </li><li>Operations & Billing (15%) </li><li>Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned residential communities, including facility management, safety, and security. </li><li>Manage housing assignments, check-ins, and check-outs in collaboration with the Occupancy Management team. </li><li>Maintain accurate records and reports related to residential community operations, incidents, and programming. </li><li>Student Conduct & Crisis Response (10%) </li><li>Serve in an on-call rotation to provide support during crises and emergencies within the residential communities. </li><li>Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to student conduct, safety, and well-being. </li><li>Provide support and resources to students experiencing personal, academic, or social challenges. </li><li>Communicate institutional expectations for staff and student behavior to area staff; mediate and supervise resident disputes and discipline cases when needed. </li><li>Departmental, Division, and Professional Commitments (10%) </li><li>The position presents many opportunities to become involved on campus and pursue professional development and interests through committees and campus partnerships. Involvement in student affairs professional regional and/or national associations is also supported and encouraged. </li><li>Assist with facilitating the Summer Housing and/or Camps and Conferences program. </li><li>Assist with other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling, or a related area is required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Experience/Knowledge/Skills: One (1) year of extensive experience in the following areas is required: staff development and supervision, administration of residence hall operations, facilitating/supervising student development programming initiatives. </li><li>Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team. </li><li>Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver's license. Certified or must obtain certification to drive within 60 days of date hired. </li><li>Physical Requirements: None </li><li>Other Requirements: Occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Master's degree and two (2) or more years of experience working in Housing and Residence Life.
