<p>Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist/Assistive Technology Team</p> <p>Salary Schedule: Licensed/Certified CHCCS Salary Page</p> <p>Reports To: EC Director of Psychological and Related Supports</p> <p>Salary Grade: Teacher eligible for local supplement and EC supplement</p> <p>Work Location: Lincoln Center</p> <p>FSLA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Work Schedule: 10 Months</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Provide leadership in the district-wide development and implementation of a coordinated system of high quality assistive technology and augmentative communication services, including direct services provided to complex communicators.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in coordinating the funding, design, and fabrication of AAC/AT devices necessary for student IEPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Plan, conduct, and assist in staff development activities to implement AAC/AT.</p> </li><li> <p>Work positively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to ensure appropriate learning programs and environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in professional development to maintain and improve professional competence and to effectively implement AAC/AT programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the development, maintenance, and tracking of AAC device inventory system; maintain data and performance indicator information for services provided.</p> </li><li> <p>Use the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Psychological and Related Supports.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates as an effective member of the AT team to discuss processes and divide responsibilities according to current needs and trends.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide support to all EC staff across the district's schools for technology utilized in supporting our disabled student population. This includes tools to support literacy, other academic needs, vocational needs, communication, and other functional needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide support to staff regarding implementation of AT device use, including support with data collection, documentation, and evidence-based practice.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with the Information Technology and Digital Learning & Library teams to manage assistive technology devices and inventory throughout the district, as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Liaise with the general education technology groups in CHCCS to make certain the EC population is considered in global decisions, as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with the school-based teams to achieve student outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and assess the effects of Assistive Technology intervention and/or consultation and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development including AT supports within the IEP and appropriate accommodations.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the development of presentations and resources the AT team provides to school based teams or district personnel in print or in presentations.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language and hearing programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares quarterly reports as required. In addition documents speech therapy services and all required ECATS documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts speech, language and hearing screenings, administers formal and informal assessments, and obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Seeks the assistance of teachers, parents, and others to meet the communication needs of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, including the Extended Content Standards, in the management of communicative disorders.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and delivers evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses evidence-based methods and techniques appropriate to stated objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language-hearing and education.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes the impact of comprehensive speech-language services on student learning</p> </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology</p> </li><li> <p>Continuing education related to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)</p> </li><li> <p>Direct work experience related to AAC</p> </li><li> <p>Current license to practice Speech and Language Pathology by the NC Board of Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists</p> </li><li> <p>Current North Carolina Professional Educator's License for Speech Language Pathology</p> </li><li> <p>ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence</p> </li><li> <p>Valid North Carolina driver's license</p> </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Three (3) years minimum experience working in a public school setting. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to perform medium physical work duties consistent with the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, and be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, copiers, and scanners.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel within CHCCS District required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Disclosure</p> <p>This document provides descriptive information about the above Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School position.
