<p>Department</p> <p>Military Staff</p> <p>Division</p> <p>Building/Grounds Maintenance</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$43,752.00 - $47,112.00</p> <p>Job Profile</p> <p>JC-00338500-30 - Maintenance Repair Person (Council 94 Local 2886 Public Safety)</p> <p>Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours</p> <p>Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm</p> <p>Job Requisition Number</p> <p>JR102901 MAINTENANCE REPAIR PERSON (Open)</p> <p>Pay Grade</p> <p>U00309 A</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Maintenance Repair Person</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>SCOPE OF WORK: To perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of machinery, buildings and equipment; to perform skilled work of a journeyman level in several trades; and to do related work as required.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives general direction and instructions from a superior with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgement; work is reviewed on completion.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:</p> <p>To install and maintain plumbing fixtures, seam lines, steam heating and cooking equipment.</p> <p>To cut, thread and install pipe for steam water lines.</p> <p>To install electric circuits, wall plugs and lighting equipment; to repair and recondition fans.</p> <p>To inspect and maintain all civil engineering motorized equipment (i.e. snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc.) semi annually or as required by the maintenance supervisor.</p> <p>To clean and oil all electrical motors installed in real property facilities i.e., pump house, sewer lift station, boiler motors and circulators.</p> <p>To accomplish all required sweeping for streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances.</p> <p>To operate lathes, millers, drills and other machine shop equipment.</p> <p>To paint buildings, walls or other surfaces.</p> <p>To perform masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walks and wells.</p> <p>To repair doors, doorframes and furniture; to fabricate and install temporary partitions; to operate and maintain wood lathes, sanders, joiners, power saws, planers and related power and hand tools.</p> <p>To make repairs to roofs and install flashing and spouts. Make repairs on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.</p> <p>To weld and braze metals by use of arc and acetylene welders.</p> <p>To perform ground maintenance, pick-up janitorial supplies.</p> <p>To respond to all after hour's facility emergencies.</p> <p>To accomplish other related work assignments.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CAPACITIES: Must have a working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and processes involved in several trades such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) systems, with special skills in heavy equipment operation; a working knowledge of the use of common tools and materials; the ability to make varied repairs without supervision; the ability to supervise a small group of helpers; the ability to work from pencil sketches/diagrams and related capacities and abilities.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Such as may have been gained through completion of twelve (12) school grades or G.E.D. equivalent. Such as may have been gained through employment in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two (2) years of building, electrical or mechanical trades.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>Mandatory - Must possess and maintain (as a minimum) a valid State of Rhode Island Driver's License and maintain license throughout duration of employment.</p> <p>Must have the ability to obtain a military driver's license. Must have the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment and obtain DOD certification if required for the use of such equipment as indicated below:</p> <p>Military Snow Plow (GVW <25,000) Backhoe Ten (10) Ton Dump Truck <br> </p> <p>Five (5) Ton Dump Truck ¾-1 ¼ Ton Dump Truck Military Sweepers</p> <p>Flat Beds Bucket Truck Forklift</p> <p>Front-end Loader Military Snow Blowers Bobcat</p> <p>Industrial Lawn Mowers/Weed Trimmers</p> <p>Must have a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and National Agency Investigation (NAC) background check; have never been convicted by civilian/military court except for minor traffic violations and similar infractions; or history juvenile delinquency in two (2) years preceding proposed employment. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. At the time the employee is hired, the employee shall identify a financial institution that will serve as a personal depository agency for the employee.</p>
