The ideal candidate will have an educational philosophy that values inclusion of children with differing abilities, cultural responsiveness, trauma informed teaching and restorative practices. The ideal candidate will also have technical competence using electronic data collection and assessment systems, using standards to guide instruction, and effective classroom management. Come join our close knit team.</p> <p>The Special Education Alternative Learning is a continuum of special education services and programming designed to meet the unique needs of students who have demonstrated difficulty with social, emotional and behavioral skills in the school setting. The primary role of the SEALS special educator is to facilitate students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and emotional regulation. The program has two teachers each with a caseload of approximately 5-8 students. It is also staffed with paraeducators and uses a multidisciplinary team approach to providing special education and related services.</p> <p>As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the special educator leads the team in designing and implementing creative ways to reach, teach, and engage students so they can fulfill their potential cognitively, socially, emotionally and apply these skills to a growth mindset and self-efficacy.</p> <p>Characteristics of strong candidates include:</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication skills with families, colleagues, and outside agencies </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills </li><li>Educational philosophy that includes responsive/restorative practices </li><li>Knowledge of best practices in special education </li><li>Ability to use instructional technology </li><li>Proficiency in completing Academic Achievement evaluations </li><li>Proficiency with IEP development and implementation </li></ul> <p>Certification: 065 or DSAP certification required</p> <p>Salary: Per Lebanon Education Association Contract</p> <p>FTE: 1.0 FTE</p> <p>For more information, and to apply online, please visit:</p> <p>https://www.applitrack.com/lebanonct/onlineapp/</p>
