The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged through training and mentoring opportunities.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Supervises the preparation of food and provides general cooking in a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility. </li><li>Prepares food and provides general cooking. Prepares menus, consults with nutritionist and other professional contacts. </li><li>Maintains records of amount of food served and number served. </li><li>Prepares all forms for federal school lunch program. Maintains records for government commodities received and used; provides forms to the Department of Agriculture. </li><li>Provides instructional kitchen skills to juveniles assigned to kitchen duties. </li><li>Ensures proper supervision of juveniles. </li><li>Prepares food requisitions and maintains food inventories. Maintains logs and inventory books on received and used foods and supplies. Maintains routine records for daily costs of meals. </li><li>Maintains and reports attendance on juveniles for federal programs.
