<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Danbury Public Schools serves a diverse and growing community of over 12,000 learners across PreK-12 programs. We are seeking a highly qualified, innovative, and student-centered instructional leader to serve as Principal of Western Connecticut Academy for International Studies (WCAIS), a magnet elementary school with a global education focus.</p> <p>WCAIS is an International Studies magnet school serving students in grades K-5. The school embraces an interdisciplinary and globally minded curriculum that nurtures academic excellence, cross-cultural understanding, and social responsibility. Through inquiry-based learning, international awareness, and community engagement, students are empowered to think critically, communicate effectively, and act compassionately in a diverse and interconnected world.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lead the development and implementation of an annual School Improvement Plan that is data-informed, equity-focused, and aligned with district and magnet school goals. </li><li>Advance the vision and mission of the Danbury Portrait of the Graduate, with a focus on inquiry-based, international, and transformational learning experiences. </li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that supports academic achievement, social-emotional learning, and global citizenship. </li><li>Manage a school-based budget that aligns with strategic priorities and addresses resource needs creatively and efficiently. </li><li>Recruit, hire, and retain a highly effective and diverse staff committed to the school's international studies theme and academic excellence. </li><li>Supervise, support, and evaluate certified and non-certified staff according to district protocols. </li><li>Collaborate with district leaders to meet the needs of English Language Learners and students with disabilities, ensuring equity in access and achievement. </li><li>Oversee PPT and 504 processes in close partnership with special education and student services staff. </li><li>Promote strong family and community partnerships, leveraging parent involvement and local/global resources to enrich the learning experience. </li><li>Ensure effective management of building operations, student safety, security, and emergency preparedness. </li><li>Maintain compliance with state and federal mandates, including timely and accurate submission of all required reports. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut Intermediate Administrator (092) Certification required. </li><li>3-5 years of exemplary administrative experience in an elementary school setting preferred. </li><li>Demonstrated leadership in improving academic outcomes in diverse and multilingual communities. </li><li>Deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices for elementary grades. </li><li>Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. </li><li>Commitment to high ethical standards, collaborative leadership, and continuous improvement. </li><li>Experience implementing SRBI, supporting multilingual learners, and using assessment data to drive instruction. </li><li>Culturally responsive and equity-minded leadership practices. </li></ul> <p>Work Year</p> <p>This is an administrative 206-day work year position, as defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Danbury School Administrators Association (DSAA) and the Danbury Board of Education.</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>The annual salary range is $152,282 to $168,500 based on qualifications and experience, as outlined in the DSAA contract.</p> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Apply Online, including required attachments.</p>
