<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Athletics/Activities/High School Coach</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/16/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Sheridan High School/Denver, CO</p> <p>&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>JOB TITLE: Head flag and Dance Coach</p> <p>LOCATION: Sheridan High School</p> <p>SCHEDULE: Work hours based upon scheduling of practice and games</p> <p>WORK STATUS: Classified, Hourly Exempt</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal and Athletic Director</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Head Flag and Dance Coach works under the direction of the Athletic Director and is responsible for training and managing the cheerleading team.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, and the community </li><li>Prepare and develop lessons for practices that are developmentally appropriate for High School Team Sports in the following areas: cheers, dances, stunts, and tumbling. </li><li>Develop routines for half time shows, rallies, community performances and competitions. </li><li>Monitor student attendance, participation and safety during practice and events. </li><li>Uphold the student conduct code according to district policy. Model appropriate behavior, language and conflict resolution strategies. </li><li>Responsible for the inventory of equipment and supplies. </li><li>Oversee and advise any fund raising activities. </li><li>Demonstrate personal integrity, responsibility, impartiality, respect and courtesy. </li><li>Perform any other specific job-related duties as directed by the Athletic Director or Principal. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY DUTIES:</p> <p>Oversee flag and dance team</p> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Previous Cheer/Spirit/Pom Team experience (dance or gymnastics background is a plus).</p> <p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</p> <p>Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize various projects and deadlines.</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or G.E.D. </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual Spanish/English desirable. </li><li>CPR/AED Certification. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to project high energy and excitement. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and tact. </li><li>Ability to cope with emergency situations. </li><li>Ability to accept guidance and feedback. </li><li>Ability and desire to take initiative. </li><li>Ability to listen, communicate effectively and act responsibly. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.</p> <p>CLEARANCE:</p> <p>Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission.</p> <p>SALARY:</p> <p>Placement on the Additive Salary Schedule based upon previous related experience. Highest initial step placement is Step 5.</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>This position does not qualify for health benefits. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by statute to contribute 11% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA.
