<p>Little Hatters Paraeducator - Seasonal P/T Position JobID: 6949</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Paraeducators/Paraeducator</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/3/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Danbury High School</p> <p>&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>PURPOSE:</p> <p>To serve as an integral member of the instructional team in the Little Hatters Preschool.</p> <p>EXAMPLE OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Work with individual students or small groups of students under the supervision of a certified teacher to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Assist the teacher in daily routines that include: greeting parents during drop-off and pick-up; helping students with getting settled into the class (e.g., taking off coats, putting on name tags, etc.); toileting or helping with class supervision while teacher is assisting a toddler; supervising outdoor playtime; preparing students to exit classroom at the end of the school day. </li><li>Will work in the Little Hatters Preschool classroom. </li><li>Assist the teacher in the handling, operation and care of equipment used in the classroom, including media and technology. </li><li>Support high school students in interactions with preschoolers. </li><li>Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and in other non-classroom activities. </li><li>Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. </li><li>Providing support to students who need extra support. </li><li>Alert the teacher(s) regarding any problem or special information related to an individual student. </li><li>Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a certified teacher. </li><li>Participate in professional development training programs, as required. </li><li>Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set and assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction as needed. </li><li>Assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment. </li><li>Perform other related duties, as assigned. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess or be willing to acquire the skills necessary to work productively with children. </li><li>Exhibits a clear understanding of techniques and strategies for working with preschool aged students. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions effectively. </li><li>Must exhibit good judgment, patience, tact and courtesy. </li><li>Physical condition commensurate with the demands of, at a minimum, the essential functions of the position. </li><li>Exhibits proficiency in basic reading, math, writing, and speaking English. </li><li>Utilizes and maintains ethical practices for confidential communication about students. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a high school diploma. </li><li>Experience/training in working with children required. </li><li>Required Language Skills: None required </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>19.5 hours per week, 3X per week/ remainder of the school year long term sub; $16.94 per hour.</p> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Apply Online</p> <p>http://www.danbury.k12.ct.us</p>
