Yes VP Area Academic Affairs Department 00068 - Mechanical Engineering Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $14.00 per hour Close Date 09/01/2025 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>Assist with daily operations of the ME Capstone Lab/Maker Space, including care and operation of Maker Space equipment.</p> <p>This is an entry level position and on the job training will be provided. Preference will be given to student who have demonstrated experience in welding, machining, 3D printing and working with general manufacturing tools.</p> <p>This is intended to be a multiple year position Staff that perform will be encouraged to re-apply in following years.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The ME Capstone Lab/Maker Space will be staffed weekdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Staff will track who is in the lab, be responsible for safety, clean and maintain equipment and teach students how to use the equipment in the lab, and other responsibilities as needed. Lab equipment includes: FDM & Resin 3D Printers, Laser Cutter, CNC PlasmaCutter, Welding equipment, and other various manufacturing tools.</p> <p>Physical Requirements include: Lifting material and equipment of 50 lbs. or more, handling hazardous chemicals, loud noises, walking, standing, sitting, bending and reaching overhead.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>This is a Work Study position for University of Utah students. You must have been awarded Work Study and be a U of U student to qualify.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
