<p>The Department of Religion at Syracuse University seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach REL 100 Religion, Race, and Social Justice, a three-credit course during the Fall semester of 2025. This is an in-person course meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-10:50am. Course meetings run from August 26 to December 9. Enrollment for the course is expected to be between 75-85 students.</p> <p>The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department.</p> <p>All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD in Religion or relevant related fields is strongly preferred; ABD candidates will be considered. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Developing an original course syllabus. </li><li>Ordering appropriate books and materials in advance of the class date. </li><li>Preparing lectures, projects and other student assignments. </li><li>Maintaining at least 2 office hours per week (in-person or virtual). </li><li>Responding to email messages from students and the department chair in a timely manner. </li><li>Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university guidelines. Instructor will have the assistance of two graduate student teaching assistants in the grading of student work. </li><li>Coordinating duties for two teaching assistants and following all department guidelines for reasonable assignment of TA duties. </li><li>Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should make your best effort to designate a substitute instructor.
