<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As the Financial Specialist Senior, you will be responsible for the Client Benefit and Cashier section of SWC. This position works with resident rights and benefits established by DHS and the Social Security Administration (SSA). Job duties require integration of information from several complex client database programs to coordinate and organize resident information for a variety of reports. Duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Working to obtain all financial benefits residents may be entitled to. </li><li>Recording and reporting all institutional cash activity. </li><li>Maintaining fiscal records for resident funds, general fund, and state collections. </li><li>Filing monthly and annual reports to the Bureau of Fiscal Services, SSA, and various counties. </li></ul> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting pay is $26.08 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.</p> <p>Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Financial Specialist Senior and is in pay schedule and range 02/13.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.</p> <p>All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.</p> <p>DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience using business software applications, databases, or spreadsheets for processing financial transactions (e.g., PeopleSoft, Quicken, Microsoft Excel, etc.). </li><li>Experience with cash handling and financial transaction reconciliation. </li></ul> <p>Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with resident, patient or inmate financial accounting systems such as: Insight, Wisconsin Inmate Trust System, etc. </li><li>Experience applying and monitoring government benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or Veterans benefits. </li></ul> <p>Your letter of qualifications is limited to 1 page and your resume is limited to 2 pages.
