<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Under the direction of the Dean of Natural Health & Science and the Director of the Surgical Technology Program, the Adjunct Instructor is primarily responsible for the supervision and instruction of Surgical Technology students in clinical and lab settings.</p> <p>Laboratory:</p> <ul> <li>Provide high quality teaching/instructing to Quincy College students in the Surgical Technology Lab </li><li>Prepare and clean-up laboratory before and after each scheduled session. </li><li>Participate in inventory control to determine when supplies are needed. </li><li>Perform skill demonstrations and assess return demonstrations from each student. </li><li>Participate in the assessment process as appropriate. </li><li>Administer "Prescription for Practice" forms and/or laboratory warnings when/if appropriate. </li><li>Participate in meetings with each student to discuss performance following lab practical exams. </li><li>Review weekly student skill assessments for each student to determine where additional instruction is needed. </li><li>Record skill assessment sheets for each student. </li><li>Maintain appropriate expertise and competence through continuing professional development. </li><li>Understanding of and commitment to education and working with a diverse student population </li></ul> <p>Clinical:</p> <ul> <li>Act as a resource and liaison between Quincy College and the clinical affiliates. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining assigned students' evaluations and attendance records on a weekly basis; identifying, preparing and distributing clinical warnings when necessary. </li><li>Participate in orientation with the clinical affiliate(s) as required. </li><li>Participate in the administration and grading of clinical monthly and final exams at each clinical affiliation. </li><li>Work with Surgical Department to arrange for surgical cases and corresponding preceptors to meet clinical case requirements. </li><li>Communicate to clinical preceptor student's clinical objectives, expectations and behavior while in the clinical setting. </li><li>Exhibit professional behavior and serve as a role model for students. </li><li>Create a positive and supportive learning environment, including being an advocate for the student's status as a learner. </li><li>Give each student timely feedback about his/her performance and provide suggestions for improvement. </li><li>Be available for student's questions and learning needs. </li><li>Promote patient and student safety. </li><li>Meet as needed or required, with the Clinical Director. </li><li>Participate in mandatory coursework. </li><li>Assume other duties as assigned. </li><li>Participate in mandatory training/coursework.
