<p>Job Description:</p> <p>This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and campus property through active patrol, emergency response, and community engagement. This is a temporary 6-9-month position, with varying shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, based on departmental needs. This position based on staffing levels, could be extended past 9 months.</p> <p>Position responsibilites include:</p> <ul> <li>Patrol campus buildings and grounds to deter crime, prevent theft, vandalism and other violations college policy </li><li>Respond to and document all calls for service and violations of college code of conduct and violations of state laws. </li><li>Refer incidents to the Office of Student Conduct for disciplinary action, when appropriate, provide direction and information to campus community. </li><li>Assist with educational programming and training community members based upon the needs or current trends on campus. </li><li>Provide transportation services including campus safety escorts (walking or vehicle), non-emergency medical transports to area medical facilities and other transportation duties as assigned. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned which are necessary to enhance the safety of the campus. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in criminal justice (or related field) is preferred. </li><li>Hold and maintain an unrestricted driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Dean College Risk Management. </li><li>Possesses strong human relations skills and the ability to work under stressful situations. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to analyze emergency situations and develop effective solutions to handle same. </li><li>The ability to and assist sworn police personnel within their designated shift duties. </li><li>The ability to oversee, manage and assist students in their work study or internship responsibilities. </li><li>The ability to, upon identifying a potential problematic issue, report to their direct supervisor in a timely fashion. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Dean College is an equal-opportunity, Title IX institution and pledges to recruit, select and promote diversity by providing equality of opportunity in higher education for all persons, including faculty and staff with respect to hiring, continuation, promotion, and applicants for admission, enrolled students and graduates without discrimination or segregation.</p> <p>The College is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of colleagues, students, faculty, and community members.
