<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS REQUIRED:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree and Indiana teaching licensed area preferred; a valid Indiana teaching license with a School Social Worker's certification required; or a valid Indiana Student Services License preferred. LCSW preferred. Areas of focus will include addressing social, emotional, and/or mental health challenges to assist in the development of positive skills and outlook toward self as well as improved relationships with school, learning, peers, parents, teachers, and/or families. </li><li>Provide culturally responsive services to students, staff, families and community partners; thorough understanding of child development, including the application of social work theories and current best practice standards; delivery of social work counseling services, including but not limited to 1:1, small group, crisis intervention/assessment, and/or consultation; adept in the time management, planning, organization, and documentation that relates to the delivery of social work services and counseling; effective interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, families, and school personnel. Utilize an understanding and knowledge of community resources to ensure appropriate referrals. Knowledgeable about student disabilities and strategies to support student, classroom, teacher, and building. </li><li>Foster and maintain a good relationship with pupils, staff, patrons, vendors, and the community. Display tact, courtesy and excellent etiquette that demonstrates genuine care and concern for staff, students, parents, and other members of the community. Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students. Collaborate with others across a variety of functions and backgrounds. Demonstrate proficient communication skills both verbally and in writing. Work independently with limited direction to effectively meet deadlines and mitigate stressful situations. Comply with all Corporation policies, procedures, and guidelines. Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Direct Service with Students:</p> <ul> <li>Crisis and behavior intervention </li><li>Debrief and analyze student behavior </li><li>Student problem solving coaching </li><li>Facilitate social skills groups with students and social skills coaching </li><li>Life Skills coaching </li><li>Peer mediation sessions </li><li>Provide instruction in character development </li><li>Harassment/bullying intervention </li><li>Facilitate individual and small group intervention sessions related to student needs </li><li>Assess appropriateness for OASIS placement and transitions </li><li>Assessment and referral to in school or outside resources • Parent/child conflict resolution </li><li>Case management </li><li>File DCS reports of abuse </li><li>Facilitate outside agency support for student </li><li>Attend case conference committee meetings </li><li>Assist with transitions between homeschool and OASIS 2. Direct Service with Parents </li><li>Field calls from parents asking for help with their child's behavior </li><li>Meet with parent due to a crisis with their child, facilitate hospitalization if necessary </li><li>Contact parent to make a referral to counseling, and provide resources if desired </li><li>Assist with parent requested drug screen </li><li>Offer support to parent by phone or in the office </li><li>Meet with parents and students within the community or within the home setting </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
