The primary role of this position is to maintain and distribute property of residents when appropriate, ensuring accurate counts and inventories of said property throughout the SPTP. This position assists with searches of rooms and individuals for prohibited items. This position also performs other duties which include documentation of property distributed, or incoming property. Assist while Safety and Security staff examine packages for prohibited items, distribute mail and packages to residents.</p> <p>There is a depth of knowledge that SPTP Property Staff must possess for analyzing property for security and policy adherence, making judgments about what items residents are requesting could present a security concern to the facility, determining whether or not there is contraband being sent into the facility and assisting with evidence collection and collaborating with the Special Investigator, as well as conducting thorough property searches and identifying contraband, elicit materials, and unauthorized items. Property Staff must have a thorough knowledge of the Due Process Policies and adhere to them in regards to issuing Shakedown reports, Rights Restrictions, and Notifications as appropriate. SPTP Property Staff represent the experts at this facility on allowable versus not allowable property and property handling procedures.</p> <p>SPTP Property Staff keep detailed records on property items, mail issuance, shakedown reports, and rights restrictions. They must also account for property items that are involved in litigation as well as property for residents who have returned to KODC custody. They must carefully inspect electronics and tamper stickers to ensure the safety and security of this facility. They give guidance to the residents on what products are allowed to be purchased and what approved vendors the residents are allowed to utilize. They participate in Property Claim investigations. SPTP Property Staff assist in the update of SPTP policies related to mail, property handling, and contraband and the SPTP Property Handbook. SPTP Property Staff work closely with security staff on the scanning of items and evidence collection using clear chain of custody, photographic evidence, and evidence handling procedures.</p> <p>SPTP Property Staff also assist with the ordering and purchasing of supplies such as resident clothing and ward stock items. They assist with issuing clothing to residents that need items. They pack up and move residents whenever there is a resident move occurring which also includes a thorough search of the resident's property. They are responsible for tagging all new clothing that is sent in or ordered by the residents. They are responsible for taking residents money orders to reimbursement to ensure that these are properly deposited into the resident's account. They deliver outgoing mail to the appropriate locations. SPTP Property Staff provide guidance and expertise to the Unit Staff regarding any contraband or property concerns including policy adherence regarding mail, property, and contraband issues.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:</p> <p>Checks incoming packages for prohibited items and searching by hand. Maintains the location and accurate inventory of residents property. Distributes appropriate property as needed in a timely manner. Distributes patient/resident mail and packages in a timely manner and pursuant to U.S. postal regulations and program policies.</p> <p>Assists with room searches as needed or required and maintains inventory of seized prohibited items, and item overages, removing said items from the control of residents or patients.</p> <p>Manages the property rooms in a neat and orderly fashion. Documents as necessary to communicate criminal cases, and seizure information to supervisors and special investigator. Gathers statements when necessary to support documentation.</p> <p>Ensures that resident clothing is repaired, replaced, or properly disposed. Secures residents money for deposit into reimbursement. Stores and maintains in an orderly fashion resident excess property.</p> <p>Provides appropriate feedback related to resident care to members of Treatment Team.
