This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and the Town may change these duties at any time.</p> <ul> <li>Operates and maintains motor vehicles, road construction equipment/tools, and snow/ice removal equipment. </li><li>Provides the Streets Supervisor and/or Streets Lead Technician with status reports and advises on projects/tasks related to or assigned to the Streets Division. </li><li>Maintains and repairs the Town's street and right-of-way assets. </li><li>Performs snow/ice removal operations on a rotating schedule when necessary. </li><li>Responds to natural and man-made disasters by performing street maintenance duties as required. </li><li>Maintains asphalt in streets, right of ways, medians, and sidewalks; this includes the demolishing and removing existing asphalt, establishing subgrade surfaces, sealing cracks and mastic, patching and repairing potholes, and patching and sectioning repairs which includes surface and full-depth replacement. </li><li>Maintains concrete in streets, right of ways, medians, and sidewalks; this includes the demolishing, removing, and replacing of existing concrete, implementing, and understanding appropriate mix designs for the designated area, and forming/pouring concrete. </li><li>Maintains right of way by means of mowing, edging, weed mitigating, street sweeping, and maintaining landscape. </li><li>Services and maintains assigned equipment and makes minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on related equipment such as checking/servicing fuel, oil, coolant levels, tire pressure, and general appearance; takes necessary steps to bring equipment up to operating standards; prepares and maintains detailed usage records. </li><li>Complies with and ensures compliance with all organizational values, policies, procedures, and all verbal and written instructions. </li><li>Performs other related duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.</p> <p>Technician I/II/III</p> <p>Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. </p> <p>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history. </p> <p>Employees within the Streets Maintenance Technician position series are eligible to participate in a self-initiated progression program for promotional advancement through technician levels. Below are the distinguishing characteristics for each level:</p> <p>Technician I:</p> <p>This is an entry-level position within the Streets Maintenance Division's technician series. This position is distinguished from the Technician II by the performance of limited and routine tasks and duties assigned. Technician I is typically utilized as a training platform for employees having only limited or no related work experience. </p> <p>This level prefers one (1) year of labor experience or six (6) months of experience in street maintenance or a closely related field. </p> <p>This level requires knowledge and competent demonstration of the following within 6 (six) months of hire: Basic knowledge of and ability to perform street maintenance duties, ability to operate motorized equipment, and ability to effectively communicate.</p> <p>This level requires the following certifications to be initiated within six (6) months of hire: Traffic Control/Flagger Certification and IS-100. </p> <p>This level requires the following certifications to be obtained withing twelve (12) months of hire: Class B, Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsements. </p> <p>Technician II:</p> <p>This is a mid-level position within the Streets Maintenance Division's technician series. This position is distinguished from Technician I by the performance of the full range of tasks and duties assigned. The Technician II receives only occasional instruction or assistance and is fully aware of the operating procedures and policies associated with the Division. Movement to/or placement in a Technician II role presumes all requirements of a Technician I (or the equivalent) have been met. </p> <p>This level requires six (6) months of experience as a Streets Maintenance Technician I or two (2) years of equivalent experience outside the Town of Parker. </p> <p>This level requires knowledge and competent demonstration of the following within six (6) months of hire: Using electric and gas-powered equipment, proficiency in either asphalt/concrete maintenance or right of way maintenance, and proficiency in the operation of four or more of the following: back hoes, loaders, street sweepers, forklifts, or skid steers. </p> <p>This level requires the following certifications be obtained within six (6) months of hire: DOT Flagger/Traffic Controller Trainer/Tester, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician or Supervisor, IS-100, and IS-700. </p> <p>This level prefers a Class A, Commercial Driver's License. </p> <p>Technician III:</p> <p>This is an upper-level position within the Streets Maintenance Division's technician series. This position is distinguished from the Technician II by years of experience, additional licenses and certifications, performance of the full range of tasks and duties assigned. The Technician III receives limited instruction or assistance and is fully aware of the operating procedures and policies associated with the Division. Movement to/or placement in a Technician III role presumes all requirements of a Technician II (or the equivalent) have been met. </p> <p>This level requires two (2) years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Technician II for the Town of Parker, or five (5) years of equivalent experience outside the Town of Parker, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience operating road construction and/or snow removal equipment. </p> <p>This level requires knowledge and competent demonstration of the following within 6 (six) months of hire: Proficiency in the operations of back hoes, loaders, street sweepers, forklifts, and skid steers. Technical expertise in two (2) or more of the following: asphalt and concrete repair/maintenance, traffic control, right of way maintenance, and snow/ice removal. </p> <p>This level requires the following certifications to be initiated within six (6) months of hire and obtained within twelve (12) months of hire: Colorado Pesticide Applicator, IS-200, IS-400, and IS-800. </p> <p>Employment Standards</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of and skill in the use of equipment, materials, techniques, and supplies used in the maintenance of public streets and rights of way. </li><li>Knowledge of computers and various software programs for communication, data entry, and task tracking. </li><li>Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate safety and best practices. </li><li>Skill in verbal and written communication, including the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and report operations in both forms. </li><li>Skill in properly maintaining records of time worked and work performed. </li><li>Skill in operating and maintaining heavy construction equipment such as street sweepers, mowers, backhoes, tractors, compressors, and dump trucks. </li><li>Skill in operating and maintaining small/light equipment such as weed eaters, blowers, shovels, rakes, shop equipment, and power tools. </li><li>Ability to identify and implement risk management techniques to reduce exposure to injury, damage, and liability. </li><li>Ability to coordinate activities and cooperatively work with Town Departments, agencies, organizations, and individuals. </li><li>Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision. </li><li>Ability to work irregular hours or on-call weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or during emergency situations related to facility maintenance; carries an emergency pager and responds to emergency calls as necessary as part of a rotation. </li><li>Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information </p> <p>Technician I </p> <p>Hiring Range: $24.27-$28.52/hour</p> <p>Full Salary Range: $24.27-$32.76/hour</p> <p>Technician II</p> <p>Hiring Range: $26.21-$30.80/hour</p> <p>Full Salary Range: $26.21-$35.39/hour</p> <p>Technician III</p> <p>Hiring Range: $27.72-$33.26/hour</p> <p>Full Salary Range: $27.72-$38.81/hour</p> <p>Hiring Timeline</p> <p>This position will be posted until filled and can be closed an any time.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>The working conditions described below are representative of those an employee generally encounters while performing the essential duties of this job. If required by the position, the employee may operate a personal or Town-owned vehicle. </p> <p> </p> <p>General and Sensory Requirements</p> <p>The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Duties may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and maintaining balance. The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.</p> <p>Heavy Physical Demands</p> <p>This position requires sustained and demanding physical activity. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and more than one hundred (100) pounds occasionally with assistance. </p> <p>Environment</p> <p>Physical presence onsite is required. Work is primarily performed in outdoor field settings but employees holding this position may work in varied indoor and outdoor locations. The noise level varies depending on activities or location. This position frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally involves work in inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, wind, or precipitation.
