<p>Construction Inspector - (Water)</p> <p>Department: Water/Wastewater</p> <p>Employment Type: Full Time</p> <p>Location: Dayton, OH</p> <p>Reporting To: Barry Grant</p> <p>Description</p> <p>Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Construction Inspector to help serve our connection of clients and community. If you're hungry for knowledge, ready to make a difference and dedicated to providing personalized attention to our clients, we want you on our team.</p> <p>The CEI will oversee and monitor infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications, design plans, and regulatory standards. This role involved acting as the primary on-site representative for the project owner, collaborating with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to facilitate successful project completion.</p> <p>Your Primary Responsibilities will include</p> <ul> <li>Conduct on-site inspections of water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, storage tanks, and distribution systems. </li><li>Verify construction and installation work complies with design plans, specifications, codes, and regulations. </li><li>Document observations through detailed inspection reports, photographs, and daily logs. </li><li>Monitor contractor activities to ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards. </li><li>Identify deficiencies, potential risks, or non-compliance issues and communicate findings to project managers and engineers. </li><li>Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation when appropriate. </li><li>Participate in project meetings to provide inspection updates and support problem resolution. </li><li>Assist in testing, commissioning, and start-up inspections of equipment and systems. </li><li>Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance during construction and operations. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of inspections, progress reports, and any corrective actions required. </li></ul> <p>What you'll need</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). </li><li>Previous experience inspecting water/wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, or related infrastructure. </li><li>Knowledge of construction practices, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (AWWA, EPA, OSHA, state/local regulations). </li><li>Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical drawings. </li><li>Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and report writing capabilities. </li><li>Familiarity with construction testing procedures (concrete, coatings, pipelines, mechanical/electrical systems). </li><li>Competence in using inspection tools, field measurement equipment, and software (e.g., MS Office, inspection apps). </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders. </li><li>Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple job sites. </li><li>Professional certifications preferred but not required (e.g., Certified Construction Inspector, NICET, CWEA). </li></ul> <p>Gonzalez Offers Competitive Benefits including:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary </li><li>Major medical, dental and vision insurance </li><li>Flexible Spending Account </li><li>Health Savings Account </li><li>401K </li><li>Bonus program </li><li>Paid holidays and generous paid time off </li><li>Professional development </li><li>A team of creative and talented individuals to work alongside </li></ul> <p>Gonzalez is a rapidly growing, dynamic, professional services firm specializing in civil engineering, construction management, and construction inspection.
