In this position, which is part of the visitor services team, you will ensure that the public enjoys a positive experience when visiting the museum. Additionally, you will coordinate special events and activities related to the museum's programming.</p> <p>As the Visitor Services Manager, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of museum professionals to ensure that every visitor feels that their story is an important part of Nebraska's history. Please note that this is a temporary position, lasting for six months, to meet an immediate need.</p> <p>The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 - 4:30 with occasional events outside of these hours.</p> <p>The Nebraska State Historical Society is a statewide historical agency that connects people to the past through our library and research center, conservation facility, interpretive sites, and the state archeology and historic preservation offices.</p> <p>Job duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Plans, manages and coordinates the daily operations of the museum, including but not limited to: opening and closing procedures, tracking attendance, ordering supplies, restocking the gift shop, ensuring the building Is safe and aesthetically pleasing, communicating needs to appropriate staff, and managing calendar of events for various spaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Trains, supervises, and backfills for volunteers and student workers monitoring admissions and gift shop activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Works closely with staff across History Nebraska teams to plan and coordinate event details and handle day-of logistics for events at the Nebraska History Museum.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees museum admissions, attendance Information, process and procedures for museum visitor experience</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements / Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM: Coursework/Training or experience in customer assistance, public relations, event planning, sales, recreation, Nebraska history, supervision, or working directly with the public. OR Post high school coursework/training in social/behavioral science or business administration.</p> <p>PREFERRED: Coursework/training or experience in customer assistance, public relations, event planning, sales, recreation, Nebraska history, supervision, or working directly with the public. OR Post-high school coursework/training In social/behavioral science or business administration.</p> <p>OTHER: This position requires travel.
