Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Advertised Job Summary</p> <p>Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director for Scholar Recruitment, the Manager for Scholar Recruitment is responsible for managing the execution of a comprehensive student services strategy for recruiting high-achieving students, including the top- ranked South Carolina Honors College, our prestigious Top Scholars program, and the Capstone Scholars program. The Manager establishes policies and procedures in conjunction with the Senior Assistant Director and Senior Associate Director. The Manager recommends changes for the recruiting strategy of high-achieving students, develops and implements long-range plans and objectives, and works extensively to develop strategies and operational directives.</p> <p>The Manager is responsible for outreach, recruitment, admissions and enrollment of high-achieving students. They represent the university to prospective high-achieving students and counselors when they visit campus, write or call the office, and when they require special programs or individual counseling. The Manager implements recruiting strategies throughout the state and nation, which includes travel and virtual sessions.</p> <p>The Manager for Scholar Recruitment will directly hire and supervise up to three Scholar Recruitment Student Coordinators who will assist with data entry, connecting with prospective students, event planning and coordination, fulfillment requests, and more. They will also coordinate all student volunteer needs for the area, including managing up to 20 paid Scholar Host team members and any additional volunteers for Top Scholar Weekend.</p> <p>The Manager reviews applications for admission, assists with major on- and off-campus recruitment events and is expected to travel and conduct admissions presentations. When positions are vacated, hire new students as quickly as possible and build a staffing schedule that maximizes hours of operation. Regularly assess and monitor student progress. Meet individually with student employees to discuss expectations. Provide ongoing training, mentorship and support to ensure students can accurately answer questions and be available to answer questions as needed. Manage, hire, and train up to 20 paid student employees to serve as the Scholar Host Team for Top Scholar Weekend events. Coordinate additional student volunteer opportunities to support Top Scholar Weekend.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty</p> <p>Manage execution of the comprehensive recruitment strategy for the nationwide pool of high-achieving students. Coordinate visits to targeted high schools, manage staffing for both in-person and virtual strategic outreach events throughout both the recruitment and yield seasons, and answer student questions within the target population. Advise prospective high-achieving students on admission to the university, merit scholarships and program experiences for Carolina Elite. Meet with campus visitors and conduct information sessions for this population of students. Manage Honors email and text inboxes and respond to inquiries in person, in writing, virtually and by phone and email. Travel and represent USC in recruiting and instructional programs when necessary. Disseminate USC admissions materials, supplies, and information. Responsible for presentations and speaking engagements.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty</p> <p>Serve a primary liaison for the Capstone Scholars Program, acting as the central point of contact between the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Capstone staff. Coordinate recruitment strategies, yield initiatives, and provide guidance and training to admissions staff and students on program benefits, eligibility criteria, and messaging.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty</p> <p>When in-house, conduct weekly informational admissions sessions, assist with coverage, walk-in visitors, and special projects as needed. Participate in both on- and off-campus events. Compile data for scholar recruitment events, ensure timely and accurate entry of attendee data, interactions, and outcomes in the office's CRM (Slate). Collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director for Scholar Recruitment to generate post-event reports, assess outreach effectiveness, and inform future scholar recruitment strategies.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty</p> <p>Review applications for admissions and make decisions based on department policy. Participate in intra-and inter-office planning and coordination. Act as USC's representative to state and national professional committees.
