As part of NEC's mission to make lifelong music education available to everyone, the Preparatory School and School of Continuing Education delivers training and performance opportunities for children, pre-college students, and adults.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Concert Stage Manager's main duties are to coordinate concert activities, and to ensure proper set-ups for concerts, rehearsals, and special events. This individual reports to the Assistant Director of Performance Production.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Manage stage/backstage activities during concerts and rehearsals.</p> </li><li> <p>Execute set-ups for concerts, rehearsals and special events.</p> </li><li> <p>Acquire and organize rehearsal and concert set-ups for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee concurrent concerts, recitals and events in other halls and rooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise full-time stage assistants and work-study assistants.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with Audience Service Manager to ensure the quality and public safety of concert presentations.</p> </li><li> <p>Move pianos, percussion, and other large instruments throughout buildings.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with educational support for classroom activities (chairs, tables, blackboards, etc.) as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform general maintenance and cleaning of concert halls and associated areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with theatrical lighting requirements for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations.</p> </li></ol> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>High School degree required</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with musical styles including orchestral, wind ensemble, chamber music, choral, and jazz.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with musical instruments and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with the artistic requirements of musicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical ability to set-up and move equipment, and perform general maintenance tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work well under pressure.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate team members.</p> </li><li> <p>Attention to detail and to supplied information.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of theatrical lighting and/or audio a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and willingness to work overtime/evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work the following schedule:</p> </li></ol> <p>40 hours weekly on a rotating schedule.
