We are looking for a Lead Construction Inspector to perform inspection of work on water/wastewater facilities projects in New York City. This position will require you work independently and perform duties in the construction field office such as communicating issues and providing solutions concerning the work in progress, participate in project progress meetings and actively documenting the contractors work and field conditions. This is an on-site position.</p> <p>You will work under the direction of a Resident Engineer, and will assume the following functional responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate effectively with inspectors, contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve any issues or discrepancies. </li><li>Perform quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards. </li><li>Monitor and inspect the work of contractors to ensure proper construction methods and techniques are utilized, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. </li><li>Review construction plans, specifications, submittals, drawings, change orders, and Requests for Information (RFIs) to confirm that the requirements of the construction contract are applied in the field. </li><li>Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including inspection logs, daily reports, digital photographic documentation, force account records, contractor pay estimate notes and quantities, materials testing, and other construction records. </li><li>Identify, document, and track the resolution of contractor work that is out of compliance or deficient, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly. </li><li>Attend and participate in pre-installation, pre-construction and periodic construction meetings as required. </li><li>Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, Trimble Unity Construct, and other relevant software to summarize inspection findings, analyze data, and track progress. </li></ul> <p>Here's what you'll need</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering OR relevant project experience in lieu of education </li><li>5+ years of water/wastewater and/or facilities inspection and construction management experience </li><li>Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of drainage and utility systems construction materials, and the approved methods and equipment used in making physical tests of construction materials. </li><li>Experience working on NYCDEP projects </li><li>Familiarity with large-scale construction project practices, especially on projects involving multiple contractors and consultants. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Ability to walk construction site, including walking up and down slopes, climbing ladders, and walking on scaffolding and other temporary structures. </li><li>Must have a valid driver's license with good driving history. </li></ul> <p>Posted Salary Range: Minimum</p> <p>90,000.00</p> <p>Posted Salary Range: Upper</p> <p>140,000.00</p> <p>Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
