Our more than 11,000 employees, volunteers, and 1,500 affiliated physicians are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the more than two million patients and families we serve every year.</p> <p>Covenant Health is the only healthcare system in East Tennessee to be named a Forbes "Best Employer" seven times.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Under general supervision, provides security through the utilization of a Security canine on Covenant Health System owned property by assisting in the protection of hospital staff, patients and visitors.</p> <p>Recruiter: Kathleen Rice || kkarnes@covhlth.com || 865-374-5386</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Responds to situations where a Security canine team would be effective in maintaining order, performs duties necessary on property in relation to the canine. </li><li>Takes a leadership position at the scene where the canine is needed. </li><li>The canine team provides security services such as crowd control, serves as backup during room searches, and provides as a force multiplier during riot or stressful situations. </li><li>Assists the Administrator-on-call and Nursing Supervisor in maintaining a quiet, safe campus, free from disorderly persons. </li><li>Patrols designated security areas, inside and outside on Covenant Health System property, reporting any unsafe conditions while providing assistance to customers. </li><li>Investigates and follows up all reported incidents on property where the canine can be of an assistance. Completes a written report when necessary, along with additional Patrol Canine Paperwork. </li><li>Participates in mandatory monthly training with a certified master instructor. </li><li>Local travel required. </li><li>Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Education:</p> <p>None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.</p> <p>Minimum Experience:</p> <p>Previous hospital security or law enforcement experience preferred.</p> <p>Licensure Requirements:</p> <p>Must obtain State of Tennessee Armed or Unarmed Guard Card within 45 days of hire. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver's license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.</p>
