Join our team as we reimagine services to more holistically support students and erase the predetermination of failure for children, especially Alameda County's most marginalized youth.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>ACOE Division of Student Programs and Services provides alternative educational options through court, community, and charter school programs for special populations of students across Alameda County. The Literacy Specialist will provide supplemental intensive instruction in reading and writing using evidence-based practices to increase the achievement of identified students. The Literacy Specialist will provide professional development regarding reading intervention, instructional strategies, and effective practices. They will model and guide on-going assessment of students, and the resulting data analysis and planning. The Literacy Specialist will provide modeling, professional development, and support around English Language Development strategies, instruction, and curriculum choice. This position requires a significant depth of knowledge of the English Language Development and English Language Arts Common Core State Standards and best practices to accelerate the learning of literacy skills and to help students to integrate these skills across the curriculum. The Literacy Specialist will be instrumental in raising the achievement of students in reading. The Literacy Specialist Teacher will implement the reading intervention program effectively and will use the program's assessments to monitor the progress of students and to create targeted goals for students based on assessment results.
